Front Cover From my preliminary task my skill in Photoshop increased

greatly, it’s evidenced quite obviously in my work As you can see my main task is neater and looks a lot

more professional. This is because I experimented a lot with my preliminary task I discovered different functions which allowed me to do more complex things. I.e Shading, vibrance control and filters.

I feel like I learned how to use Photoshop to a more professional level from my preliminary task that little functions in Photoshop can make an overall difference to the final product. I didn’t entirely learn how to use Photoshop to the level I know now all from my preliminary task as I watched videos on how to use it, learned personally from a graphic designer, who showed me how to use clone stamp, which looking back now was one of my most used tools in Photoshop whilst making my main task’s front cover.

Front CoverOverall my front cover has a very clean finish, it’s

very sophisticated. This is due to me being very competent with Photoshop. My preliminary task was essentially me experimenting with Photoshop, and my main task was me knuckling down and doing it to the best of my abilities. Hence why the preliminary task front cover has an abstract aspect to it. Whilst my main task’s front cover is very professional as I’ve learnt between the time of my preliminary task and main task how to make it so it has that professional look.

I found that genre was a big factor in designing my front cover as I had to tailor it according to the audience’s taste.

Contents page Once again, my newly profound knowledge of Photoshop has

allowed me to not only produce a very professional contents page as part as my main task. But it has also allowed me to use Photoshop more efficiently for my DPS (Double Page Spread)

As you can see my preliminary task contents page is very dull and lacks a lot of colour variation. It’s very dull and had I presented that to the students of my school. They would lose interest straight away as the design is strongly linked to the audience. This has allowed me some thought into the design for my main task as it suits the target audience. The vibrant colours are a strong part of appeal to my target audience. My contents page is very exciting, unlike my preliminary task.

There is a strong link between the representations of my audience in my main task contents page as the concept of the magazine itself is that, the magazine is meant to be the physical representation of my audience’s thoughts. Thus the title “Connoisseur”. This is why I had to make the contents page , front cover and DPS relatable to the audience through the design.

helped me create as a result of the experimentations in the preliminary task stage.
