• Improving ITCHA/MEGATEC

• Part of MCC and FOMILENIO’s interventions in the formal education sector

• Objective: Strengthen technical education institutions in the Northern Zone so that more youth may be able to obtain the skills that are required in the labor market and use those skills to increase opportunities for employment and generate higher incomes.

• Improving ITCHA/MEGATEC • FOMILENO contracted CIDE to design the implementation of the programs • CIDE did a needs assessment and from that proposed the program of

improvement.

• Original Design: Improve the ITCHA facilities

• This was modified to construct a new building in another zone.

• Improvement of ITCHA / MEGATEC• Investment of $7 million in ITCHA • Construction of new facilities• Donations of equipment and machinery

• Two new degree programs and intensive teacher training at ITCHA• MEGATEC degrees based on competencies: alternative tourism and civil

engineering• Each degree was linked with 2 secondary schools (4 in total)

• Scholarships for ITCHA students

• Performance evaluation based on mixed methods • Quantitative analysis of administrative data and survey data of graduates

from ITCHA • Qualitative analysis of interviews with various involved actors.

• The objective is to document and analysis• The process of transforming ITCHA from 2010 to 2011• The key results of student performance from enrollment to graduation• The sustainability of the FOMILENIO investments in ITCHA and the MEGATEC

model in the Northern Zone.
