Research In this project, i have done a lot more research in order to

make my magazine to higher standard an my preliminary task. In my preliminary task, i only analysed 1 or 2 school magazines to be get an idea of how to create it, but in this project, i have analysed a number of different existing magazines, used surveys and focus groups and researched different fonts, text and colours in order to make my magazine. With this research i was able to improve the layout, colour scheme, images, typography and how i addressed my audience.

Front covers

The central image is very poor on this magazine as it does only takes up a small amount of the cover. This leaves the rest of the cover looking quite blank. The outlines around the cover lines make it look quite unprofessional even though it makes the stand out. I only used 1 font which makes the cover also look quite boring and repetitive.

My central image takes up a lot more room on the page than my preliminary task did which makes it look a bit more crowded. I have used many different types of font to appeal to all types of audiences. I have also used a range of colours to make the cover look more eye catching. This cover also has a bar code on the cover to make it look more realistic.

Contents pages

This contents page looks very plain and boring. This is due to the lack of text, lack of images, and lack of content. It looks very unprofessional and does not appeal to the target audience. Like the front cover, the image covers a small section of the page instead of taking up the back ground.

This contents page is a massive improvement compared to my preliminary task contents. This is due to more images, more content, better colour scheme to suit target audience and genre. I have also included an editors insight to make the page look more professional.

Double page spreadIn this task, i have made a double page spread in addition to the front cover and contents page. This shows that i have done more research into existing magazines to make my magazine look professional and appeal to my target audience more than my preliminary task.
