How did you attracts or address the audience?

Growth of Horror Films As Horror is one of the most popular genres at the moment it

was important to make a film that would stand out from the other films. These both had an advantage to the genre we choose as it was easy to relate to a specific audience being 15-25 but also how the younger generation are more willing to spend money at the cinema or on films. From 2011 over 40 horror films were release and in 2012 over 60 are projected to be released showing that the genre would appeal to a wide majority of the audiences.

Horror Stereotypes To attract the audience we believe a strong stereotypical view

of the killer and victim had to be portrayed so the audience would understand what was going on but suspense would still be created. To appeal to our age group of teenagers we change slightly the outfits of both the killer and the victim so they could ideally relate to either of the characters. This stereotype is shown in many films such as Nightmare on Elm Street which portrays many different teenagers’ stereotypes in the film. Most Horror movies include; The victim(s), Killer and either innocent bystanders or witnesses.

Actions and Effects To attract my 15-30 target audience I believe that sound,

editing, mise en scene and camera angle/shots are very important. For this we made sure we had a variety of shots such as over the shoulder shot to close up to extreme long shots as well as quick pacing to more suspense slow timing. The mise en scene we used current fashion so teenagers would relate to it as well as using a modern home so it looked more realistic and could be seen as scarier. For sound we kept a subtle and quite soundtrack which we believe would create more tension and keep the audience wanting more as they know something is going to happen.

Examples

This shot is a variation from the other shots as it only shows the feet of the victim. Even though the shot doesn’t show anything or include the killer the audience can establish that something is happening from below as it is a shot from the stairway and shows the audience that the next move is the girl going down stairs creating a tense feeling for the audience as the previous clips are shown only to the audience of the killer being downstairs.

Close Up

This shot also shows an example of the type of camera angle that would attract the audience and is a typical shot that is used in most horror movies. A close up shot of the killer’s weapon and only part of the killers hand creates a lot of tension and suspense for the audience, and subtly showing the audience that something bad is going to happen to someone that is related to the knife.

Advertisement We would want people to watch our film as if it was a real

film so we would want people to know about it so it would be a higher chance of generating a higher profit and income. To do this we had to think of a way to spread “word and mouth” this could be done by posters in public areas or an easier and cheaper way by spreading it on social networking sites like Facebook or twitter, however to attract the right audience social networking sites would normally be aimed at 15-30 year old which would be perfect for the age we was aiming at.
