5) How did you attract/address your target audience? Our target audience would be interested in our film because of the comedy element featured in our opening sequence. The close up show of Anne’s feet and the diegetic sound of her groaning create a sense of humour because the character is too tired to get up. This also gives our target audience an impression of Anne. The close up show of Anne say ‘gorgeous’ in the mirror also creates a sense of humour because it’s funny to see how this character believes she is ‘gorgeous’. The mid shot showing Anne chucking out clothes from her wardrobe shows she is fussy character who can’t decide what to wear. This will leave our target audience interested because some females maybe similar to this and might be a fussy dresser. The use of the title ‘ screenplay by Stuart’ appearing on the wardrobe and then fading out when Anne opens the doors is a creative use of titles and also makes up for blank space on the wardrobe. The mid shot of Anne scratching her bum as she leaves her room also presents the comedy element of our film. This will make our target interested in the film because she isn’t a typical girl because she does manly things which will leave the audience wanting to know more about the character. The close up shot of Anne applying toothpaste to her teeth rather than her brush portrays the clumsy and daft side to Anne. Anne’s foolishness will engage our target audience because they will enjoy the silly things Anne does. The close up of Anne gargling and blowing bubbles continues to show Anne’s bizarre side. Anne’s body language shown through the mid shot of her skipping shows the inner child in her. This continues to make our target audience admire Anne’s behaviour and form and connection with her.

Through the use of mise-en-scene we get a sense of Anne’s acquired sense of fashion. The long skirt and chequer shirt isn’t what a typical teen would wear. This will leave our target audience interested because we want to know how and why she has developed this taste in fashion.  Anne’s dialogue when on the dating website shows how she is eager to find love and also there leaves us wondering why she is looking for someone. When Anne say ‘maybe’ and ‘uh no’ this shows Anne as very particular when finding someone. This would allow the audience to stay interested because they might agree with Anne’s decision about the men. The close up shot of Anne scribbling over the magazines gives us an insight of Anne’s likes and dislikes. She clearly is against the idea of these perfect models in the fashion magazines and we want to know why has developed this hatred towards them.

A target audience of young films would have knowledge of genres such as comedies and drama. Codes and conventions such as the narrative are similar in comedy films. Romcom’s and comedies both feature the comedy element, however in romcom’s the comedy tends to be focused on the characters rather than events that take place. They would also have knowledge of characters in romcom’s and comedies. They both feature either an attractive female or male. This creates a love interest for the character that incorporates the comedy aspect. Themes that are featured in our films are teenagers, and how teenagers deal with love. Anne is a classic example of teenagers experiencing difficulties when finding love due a knock in confidence. In A Cinderella Story Sam is struggling to confront her secret lover due to her lack of confidence. Our film also features themes such as bullying. Anne is getting bullied which knocks her confidence and leads to her transformation. Teenage girls could possibly feel the same way if they were getting bullied. A teenage girl would feel the need to change in order to prove the bully wrong.
