HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION STAGES?Necmiye Oztekin

OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR MYSELF AND MY PARTNER HAVE

USED A RANGE OF MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH THE

CONSTRUCTION, PLANNING, RESEARCH AND EVALUATION STAGES.

WE USED VARIOUS PLATFORMS TO ENABLE THAT WE ACHIEVED THE

BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME FOR OUR MEDIA PRODUCTS. WE USED

VARIOUS WAYS TO COMMUNICATE INCLUDING WHATSAPP AND EMAIL ESSENTIALLY TO SHARE DATA AND EMBED CODES TO MAKE SURE WE

WERE BOTH UP TO DATE.

SITES USEDBlogger is a free online platform in which

we use to publish all of our coursework on to a digital/online presence. By

doing so, it allows us to keep a back log of all of our research and planning as well as all the information about our band. This is useful as we can edit any of the posts at any but it also provides a much easier way for our teachers to view all of our work quickly and in one

place. The ability for both teachers and peers to leave feedback on any of the posts is also helpful as it may shed some light on what me and my partner have to do in order to make each post

to the highest standard possible. Overall, the use of the Blogger has

allowed me to add a real structure to my research and planning (time and

dates etc) but also allows me and Jess to present our work in a professional

looking way.

YOUTUBE

YouTube is an online video based media sharing website; and was one of the main

online products that I used in order to conduct my research and planning.

Ultimately, we made our song choices from the combined use of YouTube and our own personal iTunes libraries. After making this

choice, we then continued to use YouTube to research the artist further. We watched

videos of pop artists to gain inspiration for our own videos. We also used YouTube to

upload our final music video.

FINAL CUT EXPRESS

I used Final Cut Pro to edit the footage to create our music video for ‘Rouge Noirs’ Out

Alive. Having used the programme prior to the second year of the media course, I found this

process fairly straight forward, and I am indeed happy with the end product that me and my

partner have achieved. By using a professional editing programme we were able to achieve

professional looking results by applying common conventions of real music videos into our own

through the use of Final Cut. With out the use of this programme we would not have been able to

complete the majority of our coursework or present the video to our audience.

IMAC

Having to use technological resources such as Photoshop to create my ancillary texts & Final Cut Express to make the video, it

required the use of the school’s Mac. The editing process was made a lot easier at school due to the larger size of the iMac monitors. However we faced difficulty as

neither myself or my partner were in possession of an apple laptop/ computer to access Final Cut Express, this then required

us to come into school quite frequently however we were able to come because of the production scheduling we made prior to

the editing.

PHOTOSHOP

We used Adobe Photoshop mainly to create my Digi-pak and images for the website. However,

my partner also used this programme to create mood board and present my digi-pak analysis work on, creating more presentation

pieces as opposed to just posting the text onto the blog. In photo shop I used basic text, colour

and shape manipulation skills in order to achieve my works. -I then used texts, shape tools

and the colour picker to create the majority of my Digipak and adverts. This tool was extremely

useful as I was able to manipulate my works fully and edit them at anytime ensuring I create

two pieces of work I was satisfied with.

WIX

wix.com wix.com was the main piece of technology used when constructing my artist website. wix.com is a

website which allows you to create a website of some variety. I have never used this sort of website before so at first I was quite hesitant and unconfident. However, I slowly got to grips with the way it works and managed

to produce a really professional looking website. wix.com allowed me use all different types of features when creating my website these varying from adding a merchandise page to my store to adding YouTube clips

on whatever page I’d wish. wix.com had all sorts of features which made my construction of the website far more efficient, for example, you could choose what sort of page you wanted to create and it would allow you to choose from a variety of layouts/templates to add your

information into - I did this on my gallery page.

CONCLUSION

For the most part we used each of these pieces of technology and kit individually in order to complete

the process of making the ancillary texts and piecing together our music video. However, it is

how these products worked together and made the process much more simple than it could be. If me and Jess wanted to change anything from a blog

post on Blogger to a section in the video, we could be online in seconds and we would always have our footage or products with us due to the portability of

the memory sticks. It would not have been a hardship to have to carry the cameras at all times

either. To summarise, the whole process was enhanced for me and my partner thanks to the

advancements in technology.
