Question 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research and planning and

evaluation stages?

Page 2: Evaluation q4

Research and Planning Throughout the research

and planning stages, we used a variety of different technologies in our work

Page 3: Evaluation q4

Prezi is an online presentation site that allowed me to present my research in an interactive way. It was extremely useful as it allowed me to embed images of different magazine front covers so that I could write detailed analysis’ on the different conventions they had.

Microsoft PowerPoint and Word were also a useful way for me to present my work as it also allowed me to include images and text explaining different areas in my research and planning.

Scribd. and SlideShare are softwares that allow you to upload presentations and documents which came in useful as it allowed me to embed PowerPoint presentations and Word documents onto my yolasite.

Yolasite is the website which allowed me to upload all of my work onto as well as include text and images if needed. It allows you to organise your work so that I could upload my work in a particular order.

Glogster is an online software that allowed me to upload images, videos and text onto a poster which I could then embed onto my yola. There is a variety of different layouts to choose from which are all colourful and visually aesthetic.

Poll Everywhere is an online site where you can participate in polls by texting in your answer. This site came in useful when we needed feedback from peers about decisions concerning our horror film. We asked people to vote on things such as masthead typography and our film title and used the results to decide on which ideas we would use.

YouTube is an online video site which allows you to upload and watch videos created by other people. I used YouTube to upload videos that we filmed for our film pitch and auditions and then embed these videos onto my yola so that they could be watched from there.

Padlet is an online application where you can build a wall through the use of a blank template and add text, images and videos. I used this in order to create a production schedule so that my group could organise where and when we would film and who and what we would be filming.

Production

We also used a variety of different technologies in the construction of our film trailer, poster and magazine front cover

Page 12: Evaluation q4

Premiere Pro is an editing software that allowed us to edit our footage and therefore create our film trailer. The software allows you to use various tools such as cut, crop and erase. Premiere Pro also allows you to add text and titles and import music and sound to create a soundtrack. We also were able to change effects so that we could create a darker effect in some shots to fit the horror genre.

We used a Nikon video camera to film our footage that we would use for our trailer and also to take pictures for our magazine front cover and film poster.

Page 14: Evaluation q4

We also used a tripod in order to capture steadier shots whilst filming certain scenes for our film trailer.

We used a green screen and lighting equipment provided by our school in order to take photos for our film poster and magazine that we could then edit in PhotoShop. The use of the lighting equipment allowed for our photos to look more professional and for us to get the right lighting effects that we wanted.

PhotoShop is a software that we used to create our film poster and magazine front cover. It allowed us to create professional looking work through the wide variety of tools and effects that would help capture the look of a horror film.
