Presenting Evaluation Question 1:

• I used Prezi (an online presenter). This allowed me to produce an interesting presentation that was creative and required relatively little effort from the viewer to watch.

• Yet, it was extremely time consuming.• Unlike, using separate presentation methods (such as for evaluation question 4),

using Prezi meant that I could discuss both my music video and print products due to the layout I chose.

• Also, I could alter the ‘path’ which makes the prezi more interactive as it can zoom in on specific aspects, such as images or paragraphs, which directly relates images to text, enabling the Prezi to make more sense. This cannot be done on PowerPoint and effectively makes the text easier, and less overwhelming, to read.

• I combined using Prezi with print screening (or grab – see next slide) sections our music video from YouTube compared with real media products.

Presenting our evaluation (Grab):

• I often used screen grabs from YouTube, InDesign and Firework accompanied by comments on what we had done to achieve our final products and why we made these decisions.

• One advantage of using ‘grab’ is that the user can choose how much of the screen they wish to print whereas using print screen sometimes requires the user to crop out sections of the print that they do not wish to show in the image.

• However, an issue with the use of grab on the iMac is that it is complicated by having to go into an applications folder; then utilities before selecting “grab” and then “capture”, as opposed to the press of one “print screen” button on a regular computer.

Presenting Evaluation Question 2:

• The only post I had made using windows live movie maker – which was used instead of iMovie as this presentation was created at home and therefore I had to be flexible with my methods of presenting.

• Movie maker enables the user to add music to the movie which I decided to do in order to make the presentation more exciting for an audience, which is important as a couple of the slides are entirely text.

• Yet, a limitation of doing so meant that I had to choose a song that fit the duration of the movie and was an ‘easy-listening’ piece that did not distract from the movie.

• I imported images of my 3 products (through saving screen grabs) and added captions to these, which allowed me to illustrate how they connected to one another (synergy) through mise-en-scene.

• Yet, I had to make sure that the captions could be seen over the image (e.g. Not to use black text on a dark image).

Presenting Evaluation Question 3:

• A Prezi was used.• This presentation consisted of a lot of text that I tried to make seem less daunting

by using different colours for each paragraph.• The layout that I chose enabled me to present how I used audience feedback in

chorological order (from choosing our target audience, to feedback from our music video, to how this impacted to our print products).

• I embedded videos from YouTube to demonstrate the points in the presentation.• Prezi also allowed me to create separate frames within each slide so that I could

give more information without too much text appearing on one page. I felt that this level of description was important as audience research and feedback was crucial to the production of our 3 products.

• Within the videos we used Photobooth to interview an audience and also a voice over (see next slide) to variated how we obtained audience feedback. All videos were edited using iMovie.

Presenting our evaluation (PhotoBooth):

• New technologies have been a useful aid when presenting our evaluation of the products that we have made to promote a pop song.

• Whilst constructing our music video, my group constantly evaluated our work using audience feedback which was filmed using PhotoBooth, and editing using iMovie on an iMac. These videos often included picture-in-picture where we would select part (or all of, if we were filming a reaction video) of our music video to feature as a small moving image to illustrate the points made by our audience.

• For example, if we showed them a particular clip and then asked for their opinion, this would also been seen in the video so the audience would know which section we were referring to in the question. Also, if an audience member was telling us what they liked about our music video, we would try to include a still image in the corner of the video relating to what their statement referred to (e.g. A certain shot, lighting or costume use).

Presenting our evaluation (Podcast):

• One of our posts, concerning our use of green screen, as a replacement shot for the kitchen sequence, involved a podcast using the microphone function on iMovie, where the voices of our audience were heard over a clip of the shot they are commentating on. I believe this is quite effective as this post variates from our other audience feedback, which consists of mainly shots of our audience as they describe their opinions on the “rough” and “final” cuts of our pop video for the song “Torn”.

• An unexpected advantage of using this form to record our feedback was that there were more willing participants to be our audience, as most people have refused to appear in our videos because they are shy or concerned about their anonymity which is understandable. Therefore a podcast was a much more ethical way, considering our audience, to record audience feedback which benefits us as more people are willing to judge the video.

• Our group also recorded a podcast of two people commentating on our final cut but we were unsure about how to upload this from GarageBand and therefore it is not featured on our blog unfortunately.

Presenting Evaluation Question 4 (construction and planning):

• Both these presentations were filmed using Photobooth (where I am talking/presenting the equipment) and a flip camera and tripod (for when I show demonstrations using the iMac).

• Both these videos were edited using iMovie.• However, these videos took a long time to prepare (due to setting up the

equipment) and I had to film them after school in the media classroom as this was when it was most quiet, enabling me to concentrate. Also, I could not film these at home due to not having the luxury of the school’s media equipment, which meant I had to spend a lot of time at school whilst filming and editing these.

• There is some text as filming these unscripted meant that I may have forgotten to elaborate on certain points.

• Unfortunately, the construction video is very long (over 20 minutes) which could be inconvenient for some people to watch as there was a lot to explain regarding how I produced all 3 products which also made it difficult to edit this footage.

Page 9: Evaluation

Presenting Evaluation Question 4 (research and evaluation):

• PowerPoint was used to present both of these.• Using slideshare to upload PowerPoint's (via the internet) meant that all of my

presentations could be accessed without having the original files, yet this made it difficult to edit my work as I had to re-upload the files onto slideshare before posting them onto my blog.

• There is quite a lot of text as these presentations are very informative.• Yet, I presented this text in the form of bullet points in order for the audience to be

able to read it more easily.• I also included screen grabs for websites and images from the internet in these

presentations, attempting to make the PowerPoints more interesting, and also to illustrate the text itself.

• However, by using PowerPoint for two of my evaluation presentations in addition to my use of Prezi, this could make the post seem less organised than the others on my blog, such as evaluation question 1 where I was able to mention many aspects of generic conventions and all 3 products in one presentation.
