What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this

product?

Blogger.com

Using Blogger.com I was able to publish all tasks during the research, planning and production of

my music magazine. Using various presentation programs I was able to display them to a

professional standard and they are easily viewed. The use of Blogger.com allowed me to view and

analyze the process of production and identify what has been done and what tasks are outstanding.

I had experience of this already during my Preliminary Task however I feel I made more use of it

and had used additional programs to add flare and style to my blog.

Presentation Programs

The programs I used allowed me to present my work in a variety of ways; I used Scribd, Slideshare

and Youtube as ways to present information. Scribd and Slideshare allowed me to upload word

documents and power points and by converting them into much more manageable formats adding

flare and variation to my blog. The use of Youtube allowed me to present video material in

relation to my magazine and focus group analysis. The use of this gave more visual content to my

blog instead of just text and images. The use of Scribd and Slideshare were new to me, however

they were fairly easy to use and helped demonstrate further development of my technology skills

and knowledge.

Adobe InDesign & Adobe Photoshop

Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop are industry standard software and allowed me to create a

professional and stylish magazine that could easily compete against existing magazines. Using

Adobe InDesign I created my contents page and double page spread, Adobe InDesign is a

software greatly used for text based documents therefore I was easily able to create columns to

stick to the ‘Rule of Thirds’ and demonstrate professional layouts. Using Adobe Photoshop I was

able to upload images for my front cover, edit them and its surround background to create a front

cover resembling a professional one according to its genre. I added additional text for cover lines

and other tools to help project the text and make it stand out against its surround images and

background. These skills I feel were mastered after my Preliminary Task and therefore I was able

to do much more and create a product looking far more professional and stylish.

Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point & Microsoft Excel

Using these three Microsoft softwares I was able to create documents of information including

text, images and tables. These are fairly standard to me as I have used them for many years now,

which is why I developed them even further by uploading them to online presentation programs

such as Scribd/Slideshare.

College Camera

The college cameras are fairly basic cameras which I used to take pictures for my front cover,

contents page and double page spread and video my focus group when asked questions about my

product. Given the format of these cameras my pictures/videos were easy to upload and transfer

using the necessary programs.
