It was an important part of the process when producing my promotional package to collate some audience feedback. This would allow me to ensure that my ideas of what connotations have come

through / what I thought would work well is actually the case.

I have used two different ways to gain some audience feedback about my promotional package. The first way is through a video

recording of some people from my target audience discussing what they like / don’t like about my three products.

The second way was through a Facebook group that I created. I uploaded my music video, print advert and digipak and asked

people from my target audience (18-25 year old women) to comment on what they liked / disliked about them.

Reflection on Audience FeedbackThe main comments that came through from my audience

feedback are:

• That the target audience felt that the setting of the music videos and photos used in the Digipak were suitable and

looked very natural (which links in with the Indie Folk genre).

• That the mise-en-scene in general works well throughout all three products.

• That there is definite coherence between the three products.

• That there are connotations of vulnerability / naivity(common in the Indie Folk genre).

• That the promotional package appears professional.

What improvements could be made?

After collecting audience feedback from my target audience, aspects have been highlighted which I could improve on if I

had another opportunity.

One of these alterations was the colour used in the digipakand print advert. It was highlighted that if I had made these

paler and less bold, it would cohere more with the music video.

Another thing I could improve is the white background on the digipak. This does not cohere with the rest of the

promotional package as the background of the print advert is a more creamy hue. Therefore, this could have been

altered to ensure that my brand identity would be fully established and structured.

ConclusionOverall, it is clear that my target audience feels I have been

successful in the creation of my promotional package.

It was extremely important to collect audience feedback throughout the progression of my coursework because this is what

would be done in the professional industry. It also means that someone can look at it from an unbiased, more realistic point of

view.

Qualitative feedback allows us to understand the reasons behind the audience feeling this way, and this is why this would be the

recommended way of collecting audience feedback.

The hypodermic needle theory is that media has a direct, immediate and powerful effect on its audiences, which is why it is

of upmost importance to ensure the promotional package is effective.
