1. GENERAL
The tests were performed on the reactive coating intended for Fire Resisting Application of steel building elements, manufactured by the company CIN Valentine S.A.U.. The evaluation has been carried out on steel. The tests were carried out at the laboratories of the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja, EXOVA and APPLUS.
The assessment of the fitness for use of the rendering C-THERM IC 600 WB according to the Essential Requirements nº 2, 3 and 4 was carried out in compliance with “Guideline for European Technical Approval ETAG 018, edition 2006, Part 1 ”General” and Part 2 “Reactive Coatings for Fire Protection of Steel Elements”. Use categories related to the element intended to be protected Type 4: Fire Protective Products to protect load-bearing steel elements
Estimated working life of 10 years. Option 3: The ETA is issued for a “final assembly”. The ETA only covers the reactive coating product, but one (or more) primers and/or one (or more) topcoats are also identified
2. DESCRIPTION OF PRODUCT
C-THERM IC 600 WB product is a reactive coating in water base formulated for the fire protection of structural steel elements. The application is performed by spray, brush or roller, and once the reactive coating is hardened, conforms a continuous rendering completely bonded to the support (steel and galvanized steel with different kinds of primers). The final assembled system is constituted by PRIMER + C-THERM IC 600 WB + top coat only for the environmental conditioned type X.
This product has a category of use related to environmental conditions:
Type X: Reactive coating system intended for use in all conditions (internal, semi-exposed and exposed) when it is applied with top coat.
Type Z2: Reactive coat intended for internal conditions without high humidity1 content, and excluding
temperatures below 0°C, In this case the reactive coat can be applied without top coat or with any top coat of the system.
3. PREPARATION OF SAMPLES
The test specimens were made according to ETAG 018 part 1 and 2, respect to size and number. The manufacturer performed the application of his product on the steel substrates in presence of the testing laboratory (IETcc, EXOCVA and APPLUS).
Once the product was applied, the product was cured for 28 days (prescribed by the manufacture) at
temperature of 23ºC (2) and 50%(5) relative humidity. The tests were carried out at curing conditions indicated above, except in those indicated cases.
4. RESULTS AND ASSESMENT OF PERFORMED TEST
4.1 ER.2 Safety in case of fire

Fire resistance. Fire resistance performance assessment of the coating is reported under:
- Columns, open profiles, APPLUS nº 14-5985-222 - Beams, open profiles, EXOVA nº 338087 - Hollow sections, EXOVA nº 353718
The analysis of the data adopted the numerical regression analysis given in EN 13381-8: using specialised computer software for Columns and Hollow sections, and the graphical method for beams.
The evaluation relates to „H‟ and „I‟ shaped beam, column open sections, and rectangular and circular hollow sections protected with this system, applied in APPLUS and EXOVA, for periods of fire resistance 15 minutes (R15), 30 minutes (R30), 45 minutes (R45), 60 minutes (R60) 90 minutes (R90) and (R120) 120 minutes and for design temperatures in the range 350º to 750ºC.
The loaded steel beams with the maximum and minimum nominal protection thicknesses provide evidence about the adhesive properties of the coating (commonly referred to as „stickability‟) under standard EN fire test conditions. The loaded beams were tested until the central deflection exceeded L/30 (span/30). The loaded beams and the short equivalent reference beams (as beam with open section as tubular section) and a section open tall column with the maximum nominal protection thickness and a short equivalent reference open section column were used to generate factors to be applied to the short section data to correct for stickability.
The details of each specimen, i.e. the section factor (the ratio of the heated perimeter to cross-sectional area – A/V), the protection thickness and duration of heating required for the sections to reach the design steel temperatures are used as data for the analysis. The analysis complied with the following criteria for acceptability defined EN 13381-8: 2010:
(a) For each short section the predicted time to reach each design temperature shall not exceed the time for the corrected temperature to reach the design temperature by more than 15%.
(b) The mean value of all percentage differences in time calculated in the above point “a” shall be less than zero.
(c) A maximum of 30% of individual values of all percentage differences calculated in the above point “a” in time shall be more than zero.
Annex 1 shows the appropriate test and assessment information and the results of the analysis of the data.
4.2 ER.3 Hygiene, health and environment
Statement of dangerous substances. According to the manufacturer's declaration taking account of EOTA TR 034, the product installed does not contain and release any dangerous substance.
4.3. Related aspects of durability. Serviceability and identification
Durability aspects (Annex E, ETAG 018). The checked parameter before and after ageing procedure are: Visual control: Corrosion and adherence and Thermal efficiency
Corrosion resistance. The tests according to clause 5.7.2.2 (ETAG 18-2) will serve to indicate whether the coating has an adverse effect on the primer and/or substrate and whether the reactive coating system provides corrosion protection to the substrate.

Annex I. Fire resistance tests (Columns, open profiles, APPLUS 14-5985-222, Beams, open profiles, EXOVA 338087 and Hollow sections, EXOVA 353718)
This Annex relates to the use of C-THERM IC600 WB for the fire protection of „H‟ or „I‟ shaped steel beam and column sections and hollow sections. The precise scope is given in the following tables which show the total dry film thickness of C-THERM IC600 WB (excluding primer and top coat) required to provide classifications of R15 to R120 for various design temperatures and section factors. The product is approved on the basis of:
Approval testing in accordance with the principles of EN 13381-8.
A design appraisal against this ETA adopting the numerical regression analysis defined in Annex E of EN 13381-8: 2011 is used for results columns and hollow sections..
A design appraisal against this ETA adopting the graphics methods in Annex E.2 of EN 13381-8: 2013 is used for beams.
The data presented in the tables in this annex refers to beams and columns of open section (three-four side fire exposure) and hollow sections. The data shown is applicable to steel sections blast cleaned to ISO 8501-1 SA21/2 or equivalent and primed with the compatible primers and top coats listed in this ETA. Based on the test data the total dry film thickness of primer and top coat together should not exceed the maximum tested.
The data applies also to other shaped steel open sections that have re-entrant details such as type “U”, “L” and “T”. C-THERM IC 600WB has been exposed to the slowing heating regime defined in Annex A of EN 13381-8 and has satisfied the requirements

As shown in table 9, it can be concluded that:
- Criterion A: the time to achieve the design temperature for each profile does not exceed by more than 15% the corrected time. In table 9 are available obtained maximum differences.
- Criterion B: the mean value of all the differences calculated for the criterion A is less than 0. - Criterion C: less than 30% of the differences calculated for A criterion values are greater than 0.
