The Romans.The Romans ruled from 753BC to 1453AD. They were fierce warriors and had lethal weapons. They enforced strong laws and had painful punishments.

Who founded Rome?Rome was said to be founded by Romulus and Remus.

The legend of Romulus and Remus is still believed today! They were said to have been raised by wolves. The legend is supposed to have influenced the jungle book.

But the truth is the early Romans were really only farmers living in a region called Latium.

Why was Rome founded?

509bcThe ordinary people got sick of being bossed around by their king Tarquin so the threw him out and started a republic.

Emperors of Rome.

There were hundreds of emperors, some, like Constantine I ruling as much 80 years and some were only on the throne for a matter of minutes!

Very few emperors were good. Here are some of the worst!

Nero

Icitatus was a horse!Sticky end: One of his trusted guards stabbed him to death.

The Punic Wars

Rome was growing but at the same time so was a place called Carthage. Carthage was in North Africa. Carthage owned three islands in the Mediterranean sea. Rome felt they should own them. This started the Punic Wars.

The Punic Wars.There were three Punic Wars. The Romans were the over all victors and replaced Cathrage as the most dominant of the Mediterranean.

Rome.

Roman Food.The rich and poor ate very different meals. Ientaculum was eaten usually by the poor for breakfast. They would have prandium for lunch and cena for dinner.

Rich Roman food.The rich had a huge selection of food. Breakfast and lunch could be exotio fruits. At dinner they would eat boar venison, wild pig, goat, mutton, lamb, hare, doormice and almost ever known type of bird. They ate a selection a vegtables with this. Sometimes this would be served up to a group of people for celebrations. Celebrations like that could go on for over eight hours.

Roman clothing.Roman men wore knee length tunics with a thin sort of cloak draped over it. Ordinary people were only permitted to wear cream tunics. It made the important people stand out in appearance. Roman women wore a longer tunic down to the ankles. Most people wore simple sandals or no shoes at all.

Neville chamberlain declared world war two on September 3rd 1939. Neville chamberlain was born on 18th march, 1869 and died on 9th November 1940.Neville was a British conservative politician who served as prime minister of the united kingdom from 1937 to 1940

Adolf Hitler was another starter of world war 2.Hitler was born on April 20th , 1889.Hitler died on April 30th ,1945.Hitler never visited a concentration camp in his life .

World War 2 lasted for six yearsIt was a battle between two groups of countries the Allies and the AxisThe Allied powers were Britain, France, Russia, China and the United States.The Axis powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan

Before World War 2 Germany was ruled by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi partyThey wanted Germany to rule EuropeTo gain more land and power on the 1st September 1939 German troops invaded Poland.After Hitler refused to stop Britain and France declared war.

German forces advanced through EuropeBy summer 1941 the had invaded France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Yugoslavia and the USSR.

In Germany millions of people were imprisoned and killed because they did not fit into Hitlers image of the perfect GermanThe group heavily targeted by the Nazi's were the Jews. Around six million Jewish people died during World War 2 in one of historys most terrible events the Holocaust.

The US didnt join until 1941, when Japan attacked the United States naval base at Pearl Harbour in HawaiiOn the 8th December 1941 the US declared war on Japan and in turn, its German allies.

In 1944 an allied army crossed from Britain to free France from Nazis rule.In 1945 allied armies invaded Germany forcing the Germans to surrender on the 8th May 1945 After nuclear attacks on Japans major cities, Japan also surrendered to allied forces In August World War 2 had ended

Its estimated that around 64 million people died in World War2, thats more than the entire population of the United Kingdom

Food during ww1Freshmeatwas getting harder to come by and the ration was reduced to just 6 ounces of 'bully beef' (which we callcorned beef today). Soldiers on the actual front line got even lessmeatand vegetables than this. 'Maconchie'smeat stew' and hard biscuits was a meal that many soldiers ate.
