QUALITY AND EUROPEAN DIMENSION IN IES POMPEU FABRA

OBJECTIVES

To develop knowledge and understanding among young people and educational staff of the diversity of European cultures and languages and its value;

To help young people acquire the basic life-skills and competences necessary for their personal development, for future employment and for active European citizenship.

To increase students and teachers knowledge about the partner countries in various areas of life such as history, geography, educational systems, leisure time, music, celebrations, cuisine, attitudes to the EU and mobility of the population and in this way fight prejudices, racism and xenophobia;

to improve the quality and to increase the volume of partnerships between schools in different Member States,

To guarantee equal opportunities for both male and female students and teachers;

To help the students in developing their knowledge in research study, analysing gathered data and interpretation by means of small projects during the course of the project;

To improve the quality and to increase the volume of mobility involving pupils and educational staff in different Member States;

To develop and promote students and teachers ICT knowledge and its usage during lessons other than ITC lessons;

To support the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning of both pupils and educational staff;

To develop students and teachers abilities to communicate via the Internet, using different languages by means of video conferences, chats, mails and a forum;

To motivate students and teachers to language learning and learning to learn by giving them tasks which can be carried out only in a foreign language;

To enhance the quality and reinforce the European dimension of school education by promoting language learning and intercultural awareness;

Promoting transnational cooperation between students and teachers;

To enhance the quality and European dimension of teacher training;

Developing and disseminating methods for combating educational exclusion and school failure by teachers cooperation;

Promoting the integration of handicapped pupils and pupils with special educational needs by encouraging them to take part in the project - at schools with handicapped and special educational needs students;

To improve the quality of teaching European languages as foreign languages by adding European context and enabling peer to peer communications with students from abroad;

To raise interest in less widely used and less taught languages by peer to peer communication with students from all around Europe and project visits;

To provide materials for teachers in the area of intercultural education by dissemination of the products created during the project;

To practise key competences;

To develop methods of teaching for diverse groups of pupils by sharing experience and good practise among teachers.
