Focus groups main findings
The following main key points were highlighted: • Umbria Region has a lot of potential, but is not promoted and
communicated in an integrated way • Tourism providers (mainly accommodation providers) are
unprepared to provide all the necessary information to cycle tourists regarding the territory
• Tourism providers usually work alone and do not collaborate EuBike could have helped the regional cycle tourism development in the following ways: • Using the sharing platform to promote the itineraries and their
points of interest in an integrated manner, even in EU • Using the cycle tourists competence and knowledge to support
the operators to respond to the cycle tourists’ needs, making them “operators of the territory” and not of a hotel
• Providing opportunities for cycle tourists and tourism providers to collaborate and contribute to the amelioration of the destination

Final Product The final product in Umbria is a 3-day Art cycling itinerary, from Medieval to Modern art, starting from Città di Castello, along the Tevere river, until the boundaries of Tuscany The local Tour Operator Visit Alta Umbria is going to promote and commercialise the package and the points of interest Moreover a connection with a national operator Vacanza Attiva, to promote the itineraries tested during the project in their platform, has been made
Final Results
-Communication established among actors that have never worked together
-Number of hotels and operators specialised in cycle tourism increased and more were made aware of the cycle tourists’ needs
-Need for a “specialised cycle tourist guide” recognised, building a professional profile recognised by the Umbria Region
-Long term opportunities for the destination development proposed to the local entities, transforming cycling events into permanent paths, used by the local community and tourists were proposed
Feedback from Participants
– eDucational Box
Useful for new tourism providers
– eMarketing Social Platform
Good marketing tool and an opportunity for the suppliers. Now it needs to liaise with the new integrated regional platform system: www.umbriatourism.it, launched in February 2016
– App
Very useful for new emerging destinations/ bike paths. However, most of the cycletourism are not willing in feedbacking when they are cycling
– The Cycle Path
Good infrastructure, fascinating and different routes, lack of integrated system
Transferability CAMPANIA REGION: 31/03/2016- 5/04/2016, workshops &cycling tour organised, involving new professionals, cycletourism association and guide, co-planning two itineraries in the Park of Cilento PUGLIA REGION: interest in replicating EuBike, organising workshops to co-create new paths to be promoted on EuBike Platform EU: Transferability of the method to other EU funded projects
