Method

• Denmark’s GHG targets • Existing visions • Existing projections • CONGAS • Estimate probability of achiving targets • Indicate relevant policy measures

Denmark’s targets:

• In the short term, according to the Kyoto Protocol

Denmark must reduce its GHG emissions by 21 % on average in the period 2008-12 compared to 1990.

• In the medium term, in the EU Denmark has pledged to reduce its emissions in the non ETS sectors, such as transport, agriculture and buildings, by 20% in 2020 compared to 2005, and emission allowances in the ETS sector will be cut by a similar percentage in the same period.

• In the long term, Denmark has approved the EU target of an 80-95 % reduction in 2050 compared to 1990.

Interpretation of the 2050 target

Status

Indicators

Non ETS sectors

Vehicles transport CO2 baseline

Vehicles transport CO2 baseline

Vehicles transport CO2 with high prices

Development in emissions from vehicles using price movements corresponding to a gasoline price of 18 DKK/l in 2020

Vehicles transport CO2 with 50% bio fuels

Emissions from the transport sector, based on the baseline scenario, but using a CO2 ef-ficiency for biofuels of 50%.
