A culture is complex, ethical goals canbe simple.
Ethics
Ethics is a philosophical term derived from the Greek word “ethos” meaning character or
custom.
Ethics are the principles that will tell us the right thing to do, or what things are worth
doing
Held by an individual or a group

Reflections
• Reflect on the current culture of your organization or department – what goes on in and around the organization? What types of behaviors (good and bad) do you see? What norms are exhibited?
• What current culture do you want to KEEP?
• What current culture would you like to ELIMINATE?
• What elements would you like to ADD?
Many organizations know this, but still get too focused on
“doing routinary function” ... working on improving their
culture becomes a low priority
LESSON: When culture is not
appreciated, organizations will go into
a downward spiral!
