Smart Meters Penetration Rate

We estimate about 225 Million meters in the EU and the U.S. in 2020. Other countries such as China, Australia and Brazil are also installing meters.

Current prices for analysis of electricity consumption: • Opower charges utilites 7 € per year per client • The solution proposed by smart meters and plugs providers costs around 30 €

per year to the consumers Estimated market in the EU and the U.S. of: • 294 - 1200 M€ per year with current smart meter penetration • 1600 – 6900 M€ per year in 2020
