~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Gramática~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Review of adjective agreement:With clothing and colors, the adjective (in this case, color) should match the ítem (clothing) in both ____________________________ and _____________________.Try these!I have a blue shirt. _______________________________________________________We are wearing pink dresses. ________________________________________________The boys wear gray shoes. ________________________________________________________
Two verbs in a sentence:You already know that when 2 verbs go walking, the first one is the only one that gets conjugated.Let’s review a few ways to combine verbs:I need to study = _______________________________________We have to work. _________________________________________They are going to eat ________________________________________Do you like to read? ______________________________________________All of you need to prepare. ____________________________________________
The verb VER = to see
The verb VER is considered to be irregular in the yo form but it’s not hard to memorize!
VEO
Whenever you use VER with a PERSON, put an “A’” right before the person.
Ex: We see the girls = Nosotros vemos A las chicas.We see the boy. Nosotros vemos Al chico.(a plus el = al)
1. I see the dog. ____________________________________________________
2. We see the teacher. ____________________________________________________
3. Do you see your friends? ____________________________________________________
Stem-changing verbs
The following verbs are special. You still have to conjugate them the same way depending on their endings:-Ar, -Er, -Ir
But NOW you also have to change the spelling of the STEM in some of the forms:
Stem change NO stem change!
Stem change
Stem change Stem change
These stem-changing verbs are also called boot verbs. Can you think of why?
Let’s try the AR stem-changers:
cerrar (ie) to close the “ie” next to the verb means that the E becomes an IE in every form but nosotros! empezar (ie) to beginpensar (ie) to think, to plan
Cerrar = to __________________
Empezar = to _______________________Follow this verb with “A” if putting a verb after:ex: Yo empiezo a comer = I start to eat.
Pensar = to _______________________
(used with QUE! for that )
Let’s do the –ER verbs now.
entender (ie) to understandquerer (ie) to want
entender = _______________________ There are 3 Es in this verb! To determine which one to stem-change, look at the ending and stem-change the first E that comes before the ending.
Stem-changing verbs change in every form but NOSOTROS!
You still have to conjugate.
1. We close the door. _______________________________
2.I close my book. ___________________________________
1.I understand the problem. ______________________________________________________________
2.Do you understand science? ______________________________________________________________
3.We understand Spanish. ______________________________________________________________
