Safety Instructions

• Do not install the product on a defective installation stand.- It may cause injury, accident, or damage to the product.

• Be sure the installation area does not deteriorate with age.- If the base collapses, the air conditioner could fall with it, causing property damage, product fail-

ure, and personal injury.

• Use a vacuum pump or Inert (nitrogen) gas when doing leakage test or air purge. Do not com-press air or Oxygen and Do not use Flammable gases. Otherwise, it may cause fire or explosion. - There is the risk of death, injury, fire or explosion.

Operation• Do not let the air conditioner run for a long time when the humidity is very high and a door or a

window is left open.- Moisture may condense and wet or damage furniture.

• Take care to ensure that power cable could not be pulled out or damaged during operation.- There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not place anything on the power cable.- There is risk of fire or electric shock.

• Do not touch(operate) the product with wet hands.- There is risk of fire or electrical shock.

• Do not place a heater or other appliances near the power cable.- There is risk of fire and electric shock.

• When flammable gas leaks, turn off the gas and open a window for ventilation before turn theproduct on.- Do not use the telephone or turn switches on or off. There is risk of explosion or fire

• If strange sounds, or smell or smoke comes from product. Turn off the circuit breaker.- There is risk of electric shock or fire.

• Stop operation and close the window in storm or hurricane. If possible, remove the product fromthe window before the hurricane arrives.- There is risk of property damage, failure of product, or electric shock.

HSafety Instructions

Installation• Always check for gas (refrigerant) leakage after installation or repair of product.

- Low refrigerant levels may cause failure of product.

• Install the drain hose to ensure that water is drained away properly.- A bad connection may cause water leakage.

• Keep level even when installing the product. - To avoid vibration or water leakage.

• Do not install the product where the noise or hot air from the outdoor unit could damage the neigh-borhoods.- It may cause a problem for your neighbors.

• Use two or more people to lift and transport the product. - Avoid personal injury.

• Do not install the product where it will be exposed to sea wind (salt spray) directly.- It may cause corrosion on the product. Corrosion, particularly on the condenser and evaporator

fins, could cause product malfunction or inefficient operation.

• The Limited Warranty is void and of no effect, and LG will have no liability hereunder to anyCustomer or third party, to the extent any of the following occur: acts, omissions, and conduct ofany and all third parties including, but not limited to, the installing contractor and any repairs, ser-vice or maintenance by unauthorized or unqualified persons.

Flaring WorkMain cause for gas leakage is due to defect of flaring work. Carry out correct flaring work in thefollowing procedure.

Cut the pipes and the cable.1. Use the piping kit accessory or the pipes

purchased locally.2. Measure the distance between the indoor and

the outdoor unit.3. Cut the pipes a little longer than measured

distance.4. Cut the cable 4.9ft(1.5m) longer than the pipe

length.

Burrs removal1. Completely remove all burrs from the cut cross

section of pipe/tube.

2. While removing burrs put the end of the coppertube/pipe in a downward direction whileremoving burrs location is also changed inorder to avoid dropping burrs into the tubing.

Putting nut on• Remove flare nuts attached to indoor and

outdoor unit, then put them on pipe/tube havingcompleted burr removal.(not possible to put them on after finishing flarework)

Flaring work1. Firmly hold copper pipe in a bar with the

dimension shown in below table table below.2. Carry out flaring work with the flaring tool.

2. Wrap the area which accommodates the rearpiping housing section with vinyl tape.

3. Bundle the piping and drain hose together bywrapping them with vinyl tape sufficientenough to cover where they fit into the rearpiping housing section.

CAUTIONIf the drain hose is routed inside the roominsulate the hose with an insulation material*so that dripping from sweating (condensation)will not damage furniture or floors.* Foamed polyethylene or equivalent is

recommended.

Wiring Connection

CAUTIONThe power connecting cable between theoutdoor and indoor units must comply with thefollowing specifications: NRTL Recognized (forexample, UL or ETL recognized and CSAcertified). AWG 18-4 is the minimum recommended wiresize, however, the selected conductors mustcomply with local codes and be suitable forinstallation in wet locations.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must bereplaced by a special cord or assemblyavailable from the manufacturer of its serviceagent. When the connection line between theindoor unit and outdoor unit and outdoor unit isover 40 m(1574.8 inch), connect thetelecommunication line and power lineseparately.

Precautions when laying power andground wiringUse round pressure terminals for connections tothe power terminal block. When laying ground wiring, you must use

round pressure terminals.

When none are available, follow the instructionsbelow.

- Do not connect wiring of different thicknessesto the power terminal block. (Slack in thepower wiring may cause abnormal heat.)

- When connecting wiring which is the samethickness, do as shown in the figure below.

- For wiring, use the designated power wire andconnect firmly, then secure to prevent outsidepressure being exerted on the terminal block.

- Use an appropriate screwdriver for tighteningthe terminal screws. A screwdriver with a smallhead will strip the head and make propertightening impossible.

- Over-tightening the terminal screws may breakthem.

Use connection cable NRTL(UL, ETL, CAS…)listed and stranded copper(4) THHNconductors, sunlight (UV) resistant ROHScompliant PVC jacket 600 V direct burial listed, approved for wet conditions. Temperature ratedfor –20 °C(-4 °F) to 90 °C(194 °F). And this cable should beenclosed in conduit.

WARNING• Be sure to comply with local and national

codes while running the wire from the indoorunit to the outdoor unit(size of wire and wiringmethod, etc).

• Every wire must be connected firmly.

• No wire should be allowed to touch refrigeranttubing, the compressor or any moving parts.

• The communication wirings of air conditionershould be separate and isolated from externaldevice’s electric wiring such as computers, elevator, radio & Television broadcastingfacilities, as well as medical imaging offices.

WARNINGLoose wiring may cause the terminal tooverheat or result in unit malfunction. A fire hazards may also exist. Therefore, be sure all wiring is tightlyconnected.

Installation of Front Panel

1. All wiring must comply with LOCAL REGULATIONS.2. Select a power source that is capable of supplying the current required by the air conditioner.3. Feed the power source to the unit via a distribution switch board designed for this purpose.4. The terminal screws inside the control box may be loose due to vibration during transport.

Check the screws for loose connection. (Running the air conditioner with loose connection can overload and damage electricalcomponents.)

5. Always ground the air conditioner with a grounding wire and connector to meet the LOCALREGULATION.

CAUTION• The circuit diagram is not subject to

change without notice. • Be sure to connect wires according to the

wiring diagram.• Connect the wires firmly, so that not to be

pulled out easily.• Connect the wires according to color
