Thank you for your request for a SponsorshipIDonation from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office. To comply with the requirements of Florida State Statute 932.7055(5) we have established an internal procedure for the approval of monies from the State Law Enforcement Trust Fund (SLET).

Your Organization/Agency will be provided with a SLET SponsorshipIDonation application package. To qualify for the SLET monies your Organization/Agency will need to complete the application and certify by signature that they will provide either Direct support (no advertising involved) or to Promote Crime/Drug Abuse Prevention (visible material will be provided) to encourage one of the following areas:

1. Drug Abuse Education2. Drug Prevention3. Crime Prevention4. Safe Neighborhoods

Also, you must provide the following documentation with your completed application: a 501c3 or 501c4 or documentation of Non-Profit Status; Tax Exempt Certificate; W-9 and a Justification for the request of monies. Your SLET SponsorshipIDonation application will then be reviewed for the availability of SLET monies at the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and that it meets the criteria established by Florida law. Once the Sheriff certifies your application, it will be forwarded the Escambia Board of County Commissioners for approval of disbursement of the funds. If the Board of County Commissioners votes to release the requested SLET funds to the Sheriff, a check for the approved amount will be issued to the Name and Address on the 501c3 or 501c4 or documentation of Non-Profit Status documentation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE SLET APPLICATION

Page 1 - Provide information in all blocks, ensure that the form is signed by a Board Member (this must be an original signature or an electronic one) and dated.

Page 1 – Organization/Agency Name – will be the “Organization/Agency name” as stated on the 501c3 or Articles of Incorporation.

Page 1 – Check Payable To – will be the “Organization/Agency name” as stated on the 501c3, 501c4, Articles of Incorporation or other documentation stating your Not- for - Profit Status. The check can be mailed to a different address other than the “Organization/Agency address”.

Page 1 – Date Funds Requested - Put date you request to have funds. Note: once your application has been processed within ECSO it will then go to the BOCC to be voted on so allow ample time for processing.

– Justification for Funding -It is very important that you be as specific as possible when providing this information. This statement must show how it is going to be used for Crime Prevention; Drug Prevention; Drug Education or Safe Neighborhoods. The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) looks at your justification closely to make sure it meets the FL Statue 932.7055 (5).

Page 3 – Please read Sheriff Morgan’s message about using the approved Crime/Drug Abuse Prevention logo which includes statement as to where the monies are being distributed from. The approved logo and message MUST appear on all printed material. When the SLET application has been approved you will be given the artwork (.png and .pdf formats) that is to be used on all printed material for SLET request to Promote Crime/Drug Abuse Prevention if you do not already have. If your SLET request is for Direct Support and there will be no printed materials involved, please annotate “DIRECT SUPPORT”.

Page 3 – If there are any type of tickets/reservations/tables/guest list or requests for the Sheriff or his designee to attend please include that information with your request.
