30 ES International Day
From the ES Administrationrom the ES AdministrationDear Elementary School Parents,
Sports Day was a tremendous success, we had our
biggest turn out of parents ever, thank you for you
support. The day started with a lively opening
ceremony complete with the Sportsmanship
dance, and ended with a closing ceremony celebrat
ing team work and collaboration while being physi-cally active. A big thank you to our Physical Educa
tion team of Amanda Pekin, Bill Blankenship, Matt
OFarrell, and Noli Reloj. Thank you also to all par
ents who volunteered to help out, the smiles on al
of our students was a sign of a good day!
Next week you will receive a letter from your
childs class teacher with information about studen
led conferences taking place on March 16, along
with a scheduled time for you and your child to at-
tend.
We hope everyone has a great weekend. Remem-
ber to check out our Elementary School blogs.
Teachers are updating these on a regular basis; the
are a great way to stay connected with your childs

Thank you to the many parents who joined us on ES Sports Day last Friday. Your pres-ence and your willingness to either participate or assist was greatly appreciated.Thank you to all the parents who helped out at the many stations. Thank you to Kim
Rourke and Dana Rice who were official parent photographers on the day. If parentshave photos they would like to share with the classes, then please contact your class-room teacher.
Sports day is a celebration of an active lifestyle. A whole day devoted to physical activ-ity as opposed to onscreen activity! Sports Day reminds us that physical activity pro-vides opportunities for social interaction, challenge and enjoyment. The importance of
sportsmanship will continue in all activities we do in physical education. Sportsmanship allows us to play com-petitively and still enjoy being active whether we win or lose. Sports day reminds us as parents just how muchfun it can be to be active. I hope you all find time each week to be active with your child.Thank-you for your ongoing support.

You may have noticed some great slideshows while perusing the ISM
blogs. Most teachers in the Elementary School have learned to upload pho-
tos to the ISM ES Flickr Photostream. By visiting this site, you will be able
to see collections of photos of your child/children at school. Please note
that not all teachers are using this site yet; it will be our goal for all Elemen-
tary Teachers to be adding photos to this site for school year 2010/11. If
you see a picture of your child, feel free to save a copy of it for your-
self. Please know that your childs safety is of the utmost importance. You
will not be able to reach our photostream by completing a search for ISM on Flickr. The only way to access this site
is through the URL, http://www.flickr.com/photos/ismanilaes. Also, images of the students will not appear in a
Flickr search. When teachers are adding images they will not match a name to a face, and student work samples
will not be labeled with a first and last name. We hope that you enjoy using the ES Flickr Photostream. It will pro-
vide a window into the learning activities and special events at ISM Elementary School. There is a Sports Day Col-
lection that contains fantastic photos courtesy of classroom teachers and parent volunteers (Thank You Mr. Rice and
Mrs. Rourke!). You may also want to visit the Flickr photostreams for the Middle School and High School. Enjoy
viewing student life at ISM.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the ES Flickr Photostream.

From the Superintendentrom the SuperintendentCHANGE IN PROCEDURE
Dear Parents:
Every year we have to deal with the administrative burden of trying to collect from parents the $1000 Re-enrollment Deposit. This is diffi-cult for many parents, especially those whose fees are paid by the sponsoring company, and more difficult still for the school trying tocollect from parents, especially those who are not sure of their circumstances.
This year we shall try something different. There will be no re-enrollment deposit. Instead, we shall expect all departing families tocomplete the WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM on or before May 15
th. Failure to do so will lead to a deduction of
$1,000.00 from the Facilities Upgrade Deposit.
As I am sure you understand, we at school face considerable pressure from families applying to enter their children into ISM. We have toestablish the May 15th deadline in order for us to be fair to those families on our waitlist. The earlier you can tell us that you are leavingschool, the sooner we can provide clear answers to incoming families.
Sincerely Yours,
David TozeSuperintendent
22 February 2010
Dear Parents:
First of all, we would like to thank you for your continuing support of International School Manila, Inc. (theCorporation). The Corporation is a non-stock, non-profit membership organization whose business, property, and affairs aremanaged by a Board of Trustees consisting of ten (10) Members.
Our By-laws give you a central role in the governance of the Corporation, with five of the ten Board seats being allo-cated to Associate Members. This year, there will be two (2) vacancies from the rank of Associate Membership. With this inmind, we seek your nominations for these posts, which must be submitted to the Corporate Secretary (at Room P089, Ad-ministration Office, ISM Campus) on or before 08 April 2010.
All Associate Member candidates, who are members in good standing, will be interviewed by the Committee onTrustees, and those whose skill-sets and profiles best meet the needs of the School will be endorsed to the community forelection.
Voting may be done in advance of, or at, the Annual General Meeting (AGM). From 11 May to 19 May 2010, a ballotbox will be established in the administrative office area near the Corporate Secretarys office for those who wish to vote inadvance of the AGM. Proxy Forms which you submitted at the beginning of this year (enclosed in your Enrollment Packet)will be used solely for attendance purposes and to determine presence of quorum at the AGM, and cannot be used to vote.
The AGM will be held on 20 May 2010 in the Fine Arts Theater, and members of the community who have not votedshould cast their ballots at that meeting. Results will be announced as soon as the assigned auditing firm has concluded thecount.
Prospective candidates for the Board should read the attached nomination and election procedure and guidelines infull. The nomination and election procedure and guidelines may also be viewed at the ISM website (www.ismanila.org).
