I have placed a folder containing the Arabic text of the Qur'an, plus anEasyView mask to read it, on Sentermappa. (There you will also find thelatest versions of Easy-View, both for System 7 and for System 6). The filewas sent to me by Akif Eyler <eyler@bilkent.edu.tr; it is free forredistribution.

To use it, you need a Mac with Arabic script installed. It displays thetext just fine; but I have had problems with searching. If I *type* asearch word into the find box, it normally is not found (I made sure Ityped without spelling errors). If I copy the same word out of the text andpaste it into the find box, it *is* found. Strange. Perhaps Akif (who getsa copy of this) has an answer?

Akif also pointed out to me that there are some errors in the MS WordQuran file that we have had so far (the one which includs the Arabic textplus the translations of Yusuf Ali and Pickthall). Details are listed onhis Web page:

Consistency Errors==================* The spaces should all be in Arabic

(ASCII 160, not ASCII 32)

* Some short words (ma and la) should be separated from the next word.

* Final ya should be with no dots.

* The spelling of hamza is not consistent (especially on waw)
