The project on the West Toronto Diamond consists o a rail-to-rail and rail-to-road grade separation, in the

Georgetown South Corridor. When completed the GO commuter line will run underneath the Canadian

Pacic reight line and provide saer, more efcient trafc. The project also contains a new Air Rail Link

rom Union Station to Pearson International Airport and uture expanded service to Milton, Barrie, and

    Georgetown.

A division of Metrolinx, GO Transit is the regional public transit service for the Greater

Toronto and Hamilton Area. With the objective of increasing and improveing the

network of rail lines, the government decided to build a grade separation on the

West Toronto Diamond (WTD), the busiest railway intersection in Canada.

The ollowing work was accomplished while

maintaining rail operations or CN, CP, VIA and GO

To overcome the work under these strict demands

and difcult soil conditions, the contractor Geo

Foundations, chose to do the oundation work with

    aPTC52HVVibrodriver.

    ThisVibratoroersaperfectmixbetweendriving

    powerand vibrationcontrol, becauseits variable

moment technology (PTC patent) allows the

adjustment of the vibration amplitude at any

    moment during the driving.

    Furthermore, the Vibmaster monitoring system,

    Phase 2

Installation o interlocking pipe piles to orm the

walls o the lowered rail corridor.

    (12.7mm),and40long(12.2m).

    Phase 3

Pipe pile wall validation: removing soil rom within

piles and lling them with concrete and other

sealing compounds to ensure water- tight walls.

The 52HV was used to drive the piles and to remove

them once the concrete was poured.
