ObituaryOn September 19, 1943 Raymond Bradley Williams was born to LucindaWilliams in Houston, Texas. They moved to Angleton, Texas whereRaymond (“Ray”) attended school. In 1963 he graduated from MarshallHigh School where he was very active in sports, especially football, andwas also known to be a jokester. Professor Wright (then principal ofMarshall High School) called Ray, “the good kid”.

After graduation from Marshall High School, Ray attended Meat CuttingSchool at Toledo College in Ohio. He also attended Texas SouthernUniversity in Houston, Texas where he took small business courses. Rayloved being around people was very business minded. He set out toachieve his goal of becoming an entrepreneur -- and that he did.

He was the first African American in 1965 to work as a meat cutter inKroger’s Stores and retired from Kroger’s after 35 years of service. He wasthe proud owner of Ray’s Food King, Ray’s Smoke Meats and “This is it”Club.

Ray was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Brazoria, Texasunder the leadership of Pastor Booker T. Randon. He was President of theBrotherhood and a member of the Galilee Community Men’s Chorus.

Ray loved his family dearly, loved playing bingo, and also loved theHouston Oilers football team, who later on became the Houston Texans.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Rosa Williams, Lake Jackson;mother, Lucinda Williams Mills, Angleton; sons, Kelvin Williams(Charlotte Skinner), Angleton, Raymond Williams, Jr., Houston, TX;daughters, Carol Williams Foley, Manvel, Audrey Williams Gentry,Houston; step daughters, Ashley Smith (Aaron), Angela Cavazos (Felix),both of Lake Jackson; sisters, Gladys Miles, Wanda Mills, Karen Herrera(Bennett), all of Angleton, Joyce Williams, Austin, TX; brothers, ClennonMills, Angleton, Carl Mills (Kathy), Manvel, Bobby Williams (Mary),Houston, TX; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host ofnephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

As We Look BackAs we look back over time

We find ourselves wondering …..Did we remember to thank you enough

For all you have done for us?

For all the times you were by our sidesTo help and support us …..To celebrate our successes

To understand our problemsAnd accept our defeats?

Or for teaching us by your example,The value of hard work, good judgment,
