Enjoy this Newsletter? Help Needed!

We hope you enjoy keeping current with EQ activities and happenings by reading our newsletter.

We are fortunate to have several volunteers who contribute to the content and layout of every issue and we thank everyone for giving their time and expertise.

In order to keep the process running smoothly, we would like to identify a few members who we could turn to in instances where our “layout artist” may not be available on any given month.

Newsletter contributors provide all the content, photos and advertisements so the task consists of putting everything together in a publishable form.

If you are interested in supporting our newsletter team, please forward your coordinates to

[email protected] and I will be happy to answer questions and put you in touch with our layout expert!

Calling All Puzzle Lovers!

You enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles and, once completed, you put it in the box and back on your storage shelf. Why not share and enjoy other members' puzzles? Just write your name on the box and bring your puzzles to the card room on the lower level of the Residents’ Club.

A cupboard has been set aside for storage along with a sign-out/sign-in sheet for members to use. To avoid frustrating fellow members, please ensure that puzzles brought for exchange have all the pieces.

NEW GOLF SEASON IS ALMOST UPON USBy John Polak

On Monday, May 14th, we will kick off our next Resident Club Members’ Golf League season. There will be a few minor changes from last year, which hopefully will be manageable for all. ▪ We are currently testing the new EQ Resident

Club website to communicate with players in regard to player availability for games, and schedules for tee times and teams. Each Resident Club Member should have access to the “members” section on the website where the information will be housed.

▪ Please note that every individual should have a separate e-mail address and thus username and password to take optimal use of the web facility. These should be registered with the website itself.

▪ Once the testing is complete, instructions on accessing and interacting with the site will be forwarded and golfers will be asked to select and check off the dates that you are available to play.

▪ Once a month we will have a shotgun start, like last year, which begins at 8:00.

▪ We will stay with Monday tee times, but rather than having 07:36 start times, these will be pushed forward to 07:00 start times. (The men will tee off first followed by the ladies.)

▪ In the past, when a Monday was part of a long weekend, our games were moved to Tuesday. This year, for long weekends, we will stay with the Monday games, but have shotgun starts in the early afternoon (12:30 - 1:00). Monday, May 21st is the first such game.

▪ Toward the end of last season, there was some concern and discussion about the uniform application of the rules for our games. Your golf committee is considering options for implementing some changes for the 2018 season to ensure that the games remain fun and fair for everyone participating.

So, go find your golf gear, shake off the cobwebs, dust off the head covers, clean up your clubs, start your stretching routines and look forward to a “FUN” and hopefully a much less rainy 2018 golf season. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact John Polak at [email protected].

Dennis Martel and Susan LegaultOn this page (opposite), we feature a report from

Advisory Board member John Polak who convenes the EQ resident club golf group. John facilitates weekly golf games among Resident Club members to encourage them to get to know one another through a fun round of golf and post-round chatter on the club veranda.

We would also like to introduce two other resident club members who have been elected captains of the newly formed eQ Golf Committee. Dennis Martel and Susan Legault will be representing all golf members who play at eQuinelle.

In conjunction with James, our Golf Director, Sue and Dennis have been working on a membership package which will include everything you need to know to golf at eQuinelle. The “Masters” Party on April 6th, will be when the golf buzz begins. You’ll be able to meet the new committee which consists of the two captains, Dennis and Susan, plus committee members Andy Legault and Cathy Lalonde, (also resident club members), along with James Paterson, our eQ Golf Director. Next, an eQ Membership Golf Kickoff will take place on Friday, April 13th, at 7:00 p.m., which is an information night for all returning golf club members and people interested in learning more about golf membership at eQuinelle. Below, you are provided with a link to a newly created eQ Golf Calendar where you will find all the dates of tournaments and registration deadlines for 2018. Also included are a few popular OVGA events.

General golf club inquiries may be addressed to [email protected] (Susan) or [email protected] (Dennis) who will be your first points of contact for any golf related inquiries.
