Epicor Financial Planner takes the parts of the budgeting process that people are used to namely using Microsoft Excel as the user interface for entering data and giving access to all of the functions within Excel, but then adds to that new features such as spreading. By also being connected to the data in your ERP system, it has the ability to pull in information such as previous actuals in order to carry out comparisons and even utilize them in the spreading function. This makes it incredibly simple and intuitive for the staff tasked with carrying out budgeting tasks, thus freeing them up to concentrate on value add tasks.
The Microsoft Excel front-end sits on top of a powerful Microsoft SQL Server containing all of the budget information that you can access and report against in an instant. This allows for focused and less complex Excel sheets, as well as the ability to carry multiple budgets and versions of budgets at the same time.
By creating your own templates or using the predefined ones already within Epicor Financial Planner, you know that everyone is using the same input format. The built-in security staff only have access to the information you define and submit budgets and forecasts for their areas of responsibility.
In addition to simplifying the way budgets and forecasts are created, Epicor Financial Planner enables you to takes control of the entire process from end-to-end. You have the ability to define your business processes within the system by creating as simple or complex of an approval hierarchy as you need. With the ability to see exactly where everyone is in the process ensures it is running smoothly.
