Futile Thinking - useless, fruitless, ineffectual and unsuccessful, and unproductive

Darkened Understanding - do not have access to His wisdom to be wise, His love to be able to love, His mercy to be merciful, and His light to bring truth

Separated from God - actions are dead, their hopes are dead, and their accomplishments are dead.

Hard Hearts - cruel, insensitive, callous, unkind, insensitive, and merciless

Indulgent to Sensuality – giving in to our senses Taste - take more than they can eat and throw out more than others

can afford to buy.

Sight - “see it want it” mentality

Touch - comfortable at the expense of someone else. Guided by our feelings

Hearing – Gossip is no different than rape, murder, adultery, and hatred. “Did you hear about so and so…?”. “Want to know what I heard?”. “Well this is what so and so told me about him or her…”.

Smell - pushes those in need away and keeps them away

Full of Greed - Covetousness

Abandon the Gentile Way:

Futile thinking – useless, pointless, fruitless, and unsuccessful;

Darkened Understanding – there is no Light of Truth nor Wisdom of God;

Separated from God – dead in actions, hopes, and accomplishments;

Hard Hearts – callous, uncaring, merciless, and unsympathetic;

Indulgent to the senses – driven by fulfilling their senses at all costs;

Full of Greed – wanting more and more – money, power, and control;

Take up the Way of Christ

A new attitude of the mind – having the mind of Christ;

Speak truthfully – about and to others and about ourselves;

Deal with Anger – don’t let it simmer;

No Footholds – H.A.L.T – recognize the potential footholds and shut them down;

Be Useful for Others – work is important, but your goal should be to share with those in need, not to stuff your own pockets;

Talk to Build up – no unwholesome, destructive, of corrupt talk;

Compassionate, Kind, and Forgiving – get rid of the bitterness, rage, slander and malice
