Clean only with dry cloth.7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including

amplifiers) that produce heat.9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades

with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wideblade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consultan electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, andthe point where they exit from the apparatus.

Front PanelFront Panel

1. FIRE INDICATORThis panel indicates when fire has been detected.

2. OUTPUT INDICATOR LEDThis LED will light when it detects a nominal output level.

3. MICROPHONE AND BUILT-IN SPEAKERThe unit contains a built-in uni-directional dynamic microphone, with a built-in speaker for convenientmonitoring and testing. When an external mic is connected and active, the built-in mic is defeated.

4. POWER/TEST SWITCHThis switch is used for powering the system on and off. This switch is also used for checking and testing thesystem. When the switch is pressed, the relevant LED lights.

5. STANDBY INDICATOR LEDThis LED will light to indicate that power has been applied to the unit, and the unit is in Standby mode.

6. MIC VOLUMEThis knob controls the mic output volume. Rotating in a clockwise direction increases volume.

1. DC 24V OUT TERMINALThis terminal is used for connecting to the DC 24V IN terminal of an auto-broadcasting system.

2. MATRIX CONNECTORThis multi-pin EMG jack is for the connection of an external timer, such as the Inter-M PX-9116.

3. PRE-AMP INPUT JACKThis jack is used to connect the output of a pre-amplifier.

4. REMOTE 1, 2 INPUT JACKSThese jacks are used to connect the output of a pre-amplifier to REMOTE 1 and REMOTE 2.

5. TIMER INPUT JACKThis jack is for the connection of an external timer, such as the Inter-M PW-9242N.

6. AUTO ANN INPUT JACKConnect the output of an auto broadcasting system (or a cassette deck or other line level device) to thisbalanced XLR input jack. This input is active when the AUTO ANN SELECTOR SWITCH (10) is set to external.

7. PRE OUT JACKThis balanced XLR jack carries the pre-amp out signal, and is used to make a mono connection to the mainamplifier and speakers.

8. REMOTE MIC TERMINALConnect an external microphone to this terminal. The external mic is active when the Remote Mic Switch (9) isset to External.

9. REMOTE MIC SWITCH This switch is used to set the mic mode to either External or Internal. When set to Internal, the front panel built-in mic is active. Use the External setting when you wish to connect an external microphone to the Remote MicTerminal (8), defeating the built-in mic.

10. AUTO ANN SELECTOR SWITCHThis switch is used to set the auto announcement mode to either external or internal.

11. SIREN VOLUMEThis knob controls the siren level, triggered during an emergency. Rotating in a clockwise direction increasesvolume.

Suggestions for Rack InstallationSuggestions for Rack Installation1. Switch off power to the EP-9216 before installing the system.2. Connect the Inter-M PX-9116 to the MATRIX CONNECTOR (2) on the rear panel.3. Connect the PRE OUT jack (7) to the input of your main amplifier.4. Connect audio output of your auto broadcasting system to the AUTO ANN input jack (6), and the DC 24V In

jack of your auto broadcasting system to the DC 24V OUT jack (1) of the EP-9216.5. Connect the output jack of the Inter-M PW-9242N to the TIMER jack (5).6. Connect the output of your remote pre-amp to the REMOTE INPUT jack (4) and the pre-amp of the main

broadcasting system to the PRE-AMP INPUT jack (3).7. If using a remote mic, connect the microphone and switch to the rear panel REMOTE MIC TERMINAL (8) and

REMOTE MIC SWITCH (9).

Operating ProcedureOperating ProcedureSwitch off the EP-9216 Power Switch.

Select either External mode or Internal mode (10) before installing the system.

Using the TEST SWITCH, an alarm is broadcast through the built-in speaker.

Test the microphone, setting the MIC VOLUME (6) as desired.

NOTE: The Pre-Amp Input, Remote 1 and 2 Input, Timer Input, and Auto-Ann Input are sent to the PRE OUT inthe following priority.
