1 Purpose The purpose of this document is to summarize and communicate the new features, known issues and best practices recommended for Equitrac Office (EO) / Equitrac Express (EE) 5.6. It is intended for Equitrac staff and partners who support and service Equitrac Office/Equitrac Express 5.6.
2 Scope Equitrac Office/Express 5.6 is an updated release of Equitrac Office/Express 5.5. These release notes include new features and known issues at the time of release and observations about best practices and policies.
3 What’s New in This Release?
3.1 New Features The following new features are available with this release. Feature availability varies by configuration and end points used. Small Medium Business (SMB) Enhancements Feature Description/Benefit Simplified Installer The Equitrac installer has been reduced from
12 sections to 5 sections for simple single node deployments. The installer will now detect and set up SQL Express for database use. The standard installer steps remain for configurable installations for larger customers.
Web Management Console Equitrac Web-based System Manager allows for additional configuration options including Online License Activation, Active Directory Account Synchronization, Basic Price List configuration, System Currency, and the addition of new MFP devices. These features allow for most types of configuration required for SMB customers to be performed within the web-based console.
Web Configuration Dashboard Provides the SMB customers with quick access to an overview of the system configuration and steps the administrator through standard configuration via web-based configuration pages.

Device Management via Web Management Console
The Web-based System Manager allows the administrator to add a new physical device to the system with basic configuration and port settings. Administrators can also view, edit and remove a physical device from the system.
Default price list via Web Management Console
The Web-based System Manager allows the administrator to manage default price lists for print and copy. The price lists supports basic price list features. For advanced price lists, the Windows-based System Manager can be used.
Web Usage Reports The administrator can quickly generate usage reports and metrics for detailed and summary activity by device, network user and user account via web-based reporting
Web-based help Provides customers with Web-based administration help within the Web Client.
SBE and SCE license expansion The Small Business Edition (SBE) and Small Campus Edition (SCE) now support the 10-pack license packs of Web Release, Capture & Send, Third Party Card Reader, PrinterOn licenses, as well as the 25-pack embedded licenses
Infrastructure and Security Protocol Feature Description/Benefit Support for Secureboot functionality on Win 8.1 and Win 10 clients
Provides support for workstations that are utilizing Secureboot with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 workstations. The Secureboot functionality enhances the security level on the boot application and the OS and is typically a default setting on the newer workstations and tablets.
Windows 10 optimization and Action Center integration The Equitrac Message Client has been
refreshed with a new User Interface, in addition the Message Client is now integrated with the desktop and modern UI (metro user interface) and printing from modern UI apps is supported. Microsoft EDGE browser is now supported for print tracking
Note: While modern UI application prints are now tracked, pop-ups are not currently supported from metro applications; the default user account will be tracked and charged.

Support for Microsoft V4 Print Drivers Major update to the print tracking mechanism that Equitrac utilizes. The Equitrac port that was used in previous versions of the product has now been removed and print tracking now uses the Microsoft Standard TCP/IP port. The new mechanism supports both Microsoft V3 and V4 print drivers. The E-Queue functionality will now be provided through the same mechanism and bi-directional communications with the OEM print driver will be supported.
Print jobs will be released directly from the DRE service and will no longer be re-injected into the Windows print queue.
Configuration for the port monitor has now been moved in System Manager from the “port” configuration to the I-Queue port dialog of the Physical Device.
For customers who are upgrading to version 5.6, any E-Queue enabled print queues will be converted to a Microsoft Standard TCP/IP port. All printers on a DRE server will be automatically tracked and will require a license.
Logging enhancements Provides a faster and simplified configuration for rolling log files for debugging purposes. Logging options have been simplified into single standard and diagnostic modes for an entire service.
Error messages will always be logged, allowing for some information if an infield error occurs for insight into what failed.
Web Management Console enhancements Improvements have been made to the web management console to better handle large amounts of accounts, a greater amount of devices can now be imported, as well as devices can be deleted.
Support for Apple Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan)
The existing Equitrac Mac workstation client now supports Apple Mac OS X 10.11 (note that this does not include I-Queue functionality).
Job Suppression for Novell iPrint Job cancellation message has been suppressed when using iPrint.

Removal of SNMP Page Counting SNMP page counting historically has issues with long timeouts and delays which created a poor user experience and incorrect transaction accounting in some edge cases. With the improvements made to PJL page level reporting in previous versions of Equitrac and the move to Microsoft V4 print drivers, the support for SNMP print tracking has now been removed.
System Management Enhancements Feature Description/Benefit Update Device List in System Manager The list of device models settable in System
Manager for physical devices has been updated to reflect the most recent devices offered by various OEMs.
New Embedded Applications and Card Readers Feature Description/Benefit Support for new Ethernet-based Card Reader
Provision support with Equitrac via a new installable Device Control Service (DCS) for the new Nuance Ethernet Card Reader with Equitrac. The DCS and updates to System Manager will provide new functionality for device discovery and configuration of the card readers.
Support for new Legic USB Card Reader Provision support with Equitrac for next generation (Generation 2) Legic Card Reader where compatible MFP and Print devices can be equipped with support for Legic cards via this new USB Card Reader
Support for new combined embedded client for Konica Minolta iOption devices Provision support with Equitrac via a new
installable Device Control Service (DCS) that delivers a new embedded application for Konica Minolta iOption enabled devices, this new combined client will also function with Nuance AutoStore and Nuance Output Manager and will allow integration between Equitrac and AutoStore.

Support for new unified embedded client for Ricoh Smart Operation Panel device via PCC v5
Provision support with Equitrac for a new PCC v5 embedded application for Ricoh Android Smart Operation Panel enabled devices. This combined client will also function with Nuance AutoStore and Nuance Output Manager and will allow integration between Equitrac and AutoStore.
Support for new combined embedded client for Ricoh Java devices
Provision support with Equitrac for a new embedded application for Ricoh java enabled devices. This combined client will also function with Nuance AutoStore and Nuance Output Manager and will allow integration between Equitrac and AutoStore.
Device Registration Service (DRS) A new shared service has been added to Equitrac to handle the deployment and configuration of the new embedded clients that have been introduced with this version of the product. The DRS service is also used with Nuance AutoStore and Output Manager applications.
Expanded MFP Support Feature Description/Benefit Support added for Kyocera TASKalfa 306ci
The DCE INI file has been updated with screen size dimensions for this new model from Kyocera.

4 Customer Continuity Customers using current versions of Equitrac Office/Express 5.x, and currently under active maintenance, will be able to update to the new version at no software charge. This is not a mandatory update. Customers using current versions of Equitrac Office/Express 4.x, and currently under active maintenance, will be able to upgrade to 5.6 with the purchase of an upgrade license. Customers must update their Equitrac Office/Express to 4.2.6 or higher to apply the upgrade. Upgrades from Equitrac Office/Express 3.x are not supported.

D-01202 After upgrading to Equitrac 5.6, the trace settings in the System Manager > Diagnostics > Settings screen aren’t maintained if Journaling is enabled.

Workaround:
Enable the trace settings again.
D-01239 Print Monitor Hook tracing isn’t activated if the DRE server doesn’t have local administrator rights.
To be addressed in a future release.
D-01446 After creating DRE shared printers and completing print transactions, the page details and page counts aren’t tracked when using a Xerox WC 6400 printer.
To be addressed in a future release.
D-01652 When you log into the System Manager Dashboard from the Web Client, and try to add a price list, some error messages might not be localized.
The localization of the error messages rely on the .NET 4.5 language extensions being applied on the server.
• If you’re using Windows Server 2008, verify that .NET 4.5 language packs are applied.
• If you’re using Windows Server 2012, the .NET 4.5 language packs aren’t currently supported and the error messages are displayed in English.

D-02234 If you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 with Web System Manager, in the Device Properties screen, the lists close when you try to use the scroll bar in the Manufacturer or Model fields.
Web browser issue.
Workaround:
Use a different Web browser or you can navigate the fields using your mouse, keyboard, or by typing to search in the lists.
D-02239 In Web System Manager, if the browser’s language is set to German, the Report Generator screen displays validation errors for valid dates in the Custom Date Range. Reports that include a custom date can’t be generated.

Workaround:
Change the browser language to another supported language (English, French, Italian, or Spanish) or use a predefined date list instead of a custom date.
D-02263 In Web System Manager, if you try to filter users, the current date is used, which only lists users created on the current date.
To be addressed as a hotfix.
Workaround:
In the Create date column, set an older date and use "After" as relation.
D-02264 If you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 with Web System Manager, in the Users Lists screen, if you want to filter users by creation date, the values for the day and month are switched.
To be addressed in a hotfix.
Workaround:
• Use a different Web browser.
• Type the date, changing the position of the day and month.
