ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRAINTS APPRAISALThe greatest uncertainty in any viability assessment is the land itself: contamination, geotechnics, flooding, ecology and archaeology. Our ground investigations, holistic assessments and mitigation designs deliver cost certainty, providing confidence to developers, house-builders and investors.

AWARD WINNING, INNOVATIVE REMEDIATION*Arcadis provided a guaranteed outcome approach to remediate contamination from a former chemical works that had been developed and occupied for residential use. This site had not been appropriately remediated prior to residential construction with tanks and chemicals left in situ. The site is now back in residential use.

PROTECTION FROM WILDLIFEDuring emergency railway stabilisation work adjacent to Copperas Wood, Arcadis provided rapid assessments to deliver the pragmatic mitigation measures necessary to minimise disruption to the engineering works, curtail any impact on wildlife and protect our client from liability.

ABBOTS GATE, SUFFOLKThe developer had gone into administration and unsuccessful attempts were made to sell the site, Arcadis carried out a review and ground investigation to further characterise contamination associated with a historical industrial laundry with the agreement of both the EA and the Local Authority we transformed the outlook of this into an asset worth £4million.

MASTERPLAN FOR INFRASTRUCTUREArcadis was approached to aid in the masterplanning of an environmentally sensitive and historically contaminated area for a major mixed residential and commercial end use. A robust programme of works was developed to inform the design cost and plan, ultimately delivering a viable site.

DEVELOPING A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITYBicester Eco-Town: a 5,000+ residential unit development that meets tough sustainability standards. Arcadis delivered the EIAs in collaboration with our archaeology, socioeconomic, ecology, air quality, acoustic, sustainability and landscape design disciplines.
