    ISO 14001 was published byinternational organization for

    standardization in 1996

    Updated in 2005

    ISO provides an outline for an EMS

    It provides a highly effective, globallyaccepted framework for establishing andcontinually improving the environmental

    management ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for

    an environmental management system toenable an organization to develop and

    implement a policy and objectives which takeinto account legal requirements and otherrequirements to which the organizationsubscribes, and information about significant

    environmental aspects.
