DATE: Tuesday, April 21, 2015

EVENT REPORT

A Card Making Activity during the Environment Week was held on Tuesday, April

21, 2015. The theme was “GO GREEN”. The students of Class V made very

impressive handmade cards with eco-friendly decorative materials like

handmade paper, ribbons, dried leaves and flowers, glitter and buttons. The

captions written by them were such that it made one believe that it was best to

catch them young and teach them how at a personal level we can all make a

sizeable difference towards our planets’ survival by conserving water, electricity,

power and fuel, planting trees, minimizing the usage of bio-degradable

substances and SWITCHING to renewable sources of energy. The students of

Class V enjoyed this wonderful experience of crafting their own creative cards.

brought together to create a rich aesthetic experience with a message of

harmony and co-existence”.

A Special Assembly was conducted at G.D. Goenka Public School, Sarita Vihar on

the occasion of Earth Day led by the students of Class-III to demonstrate the

To dedicate this day to Mother Earth the dance troupe of the school performed

on the theme “Return to Nature” which was well choreographed and kept toes

tapping. The dance sequence exhibited the harm caused to our environment by

mankind for their personal benefit, the ill effects of environmental pollution on

living beings and showcased the solutions to save with slogans - Reuse, Recycle,

Repair, Re-Think ,Reduce and Refuse to protect and preserve the green planet.

by Syed Fatima Hussain, Mazen Moiz and Mannat Raheja.

A Beautiful mélange of an Indian and a western song “I am the earth” and another

melodious number “Dharti Maa Meri Pyari Maa” was sung by the students. There

was a presentation of articles too, by our young environmentalists at GDGPS SV to

highlight the significance of Earth Day. The assembly concluded with the address

by the Principal, Mrs. Seema Sahay who motivated and enriched the young minds

about the ways in which each one could contribute to safeguard the Planet Earth.
