March 2011Welcome!

Envirolution began in 2010 developing a concept of presenting inspiring solutions to environmental Envirolution began in 2010 developing a concept of presenting inspiring solutions to environmental challenges. From an idea we managed to host an event that brought together many of the city’s most inspiring initiatives on an autumn Saturday in the Contact Theatre. Now in 2011, we are looking to build Envirolution into Manchester’s Environmental Festival. We aim to continue bringing together in-novative projects and engaging with the residents of the city, whilst keeping the events environmental impact as low as effectively possible.

Past Events.

Envirolution 2010

There were over 20 organisations involved in the There were over 20 organisations involved in the event and over 40 volunteers, between 200 and 300 people attended. We kept the environmental impact of the event minimal, for example, the food on offer was local, organic and vegan. The event was made up of different zones including workshops and interactive stalls. Highlights were the low carbon buffet, the Kin-dling Trustdling Trust’s ‘What is Sustainable Food’ film, the musical delights of Ben Playford and Dan Cropper and the Latin-styled spectacular Solar Salsa dance workshop; we finished off the day with a sustainable fashion show.. “I was impressed by the range of activities and groups who were represented there. The event went some way towards reaching people outside the usual ‘climate campaign suspects’ and I’d like more of this in the future Envirolution events” Brian Candeland, Man-chester Green Party.
