EIS stands forEnterprise Investment Scheme It is a government initiative designed to help small UK

companies to raise finance by offering a range of taxrelief's to investors who purchase new shares in those EIScompanies.

30% immediate tax refund on investment by way of incometax relief

The EIS scheme is now the only UK tax efficient scheme tooffer Capital Gains Tax ("CGT") Deferral Relief. Withthe changes to tax relief on pensions, investors may wishto consider alternative investments, such as EIS and VCTs,alongside their pensions.

In order for investors to be able to claim, and keep,the EIS tax reliefs available, the company has to meeta number of rules regarding :

the kind of company it is,

the amount of money it can raise, how and when that money must be used,

the trading activities carried on

Advanced Assurance is a process where HMRC willverify that a companies intended business model andplan qualify for investment using EIS. This reassurespotential investors when looking at your business.

Not all companies can be eligible for EIS

Typically these types of business are excluded:

Food, Tobacco, alcohol etc. Property, including land, hotels and farming / contact us for more info Legal, financial or accountancy services

These types of companies are typically EIS approved: Film, media, music (not licensing), fashion, IT, digital technology,

green energy, online biz, consumer goods, eTechnology, etc.

The company must also be considered a Small Business (valuedat less than 7m), must not be part of a group, and must haveup to date accounts where available.
