Promoting growthThe second floor of the Scranton Enterprise Center (SEC) houses a business incubator.

Business incubators nurture young firms, helping them to survive and grow during the start-up period when they are most vulnerable. The SEC provides a number of services to enhance the development of young firms. These services include hands-on management assistance, access to financing, intensive mentoring programs and networking opportunities.

The SEC’s business incubator tenants have access to shared office services, equipment, conference rooms, flexible leases, and expandable office space. These services coupled with professional management will stimulate the growth and development of new business ventures in northeastern Pennsylvania.

KEySTonE InnovaTIon ZonE (KIZ) For-profit businesses located within the Scranton Enterprise Center, that are less than eight years old and operating within targeted industries are eligible to participate in the Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) program. The KIZ tax credit program contributes to the ability of young KIZ companies to transition through the stages of growth. a KIZ company may claim a tax credit equal to 50% of the increase in that KIZ Company’s gross revenues in the immediately preceding taxable year attributable to activities in the KIZ, over the KIZ Company’s gross revenues in the second preceding taxable year attributable to its activities in the KIZ. The KIZ Tax Credit is limited to $100,000 annually per KIZ company. For more information on the KIZ program visit www.newpa.com.
