Celebrate “Mars Mania” at the Planetarium! This summer Mars makes its closest approach to Earth in 15 years, and the Delta College Planetarium will be celebrating the event with special shows, exhibits and telescope observing. Every Saturday at 3:30pm features a new production called “To Worlds Beyond” which takes a modern look at the solar system in the Dome360 Theater. This fully immersive program presents a 3-dimensional journey to each of the planets of our solar system. Each performance includes a live “epilogue” to show audiences how to find Mars in the sky and what it will look like in telescopes. In the expansive planetarium lobby, a new exhibit called “Visions of Mars” will feature some of the finest views of Mars returned by spacecraft both in orbit and roving the surface of the Red Planet. And finally, special live programs and observing events will allow the public to see Mars through large telescopes. Details can be found on the Planetarium’s website at www.delta.edu/planet. Bay County Arts & Culture News May—August, 2018

The Bay County Historical Museum is “GROWING”

Well, sort of. Come see the new exhibit “Grown in Bay County”, and learn all about our local agriculture business from historical crop growing to modern technology and techniques. And remember, if you’re looking for those hard to find gifts for that certain someone, the museum gift shop has a wide variety of interesting and unique items!

Summer Theatre Fun YOUTH blossoms at Bay City Players in Spring and Summer. That’s when YOUTHEATRE runs from March to June and ends with a weekend of dynamic theatre, June 21, 22, 23, 10 am–9 pm. That’s over 140 students (8 – 17 years old) learning all about the joys of acting and directing with loads of hard work and energy as only kids can provide.

Mid-summer finds STAGES OF DISCOVERY working with students in smaller numbers for a totally hands-on experience of acting, directing, designing (lighting, costuming, props), and turning everything into final performances for all age groups: August 2, 7 pm and August 3, 3 pm.

Summertime will also find the very mature summer musical FUN HOME. A Pulitzer and Tony winner, FUN HOME will be meant for mature audiences only.
