Benghazi Water Reservoir - Libya

Location: Benghazi - LibyaConstruction Period: July 1988 - February 1992Client: Great Man-Made River Authority

The scope of works consited of the construction of the civil works and supply, delivery and installation of the associated electrical and mechanical equipment of a circular earthfill holding reservoir with a capacity of 4.7 million m³. The project comprised an embankment with 9 m height and 1 km diameter, inlet works, outlet works and a spillway. The embankment was made of clay and had internal slopes lined with synthetic geomembrane of 150,000 m2. The inlet works, outlet works and spillway were made of reinforced concrete. The project scope also included the installation of a pre-stressed cylindrical concrete by-pass pipeline of 4m diameter and 1,8 km long.

CEMENT PLANT PROJECTS

ENKA's involvement on cement plant projects spans 38 years and includes thecompletion of some 13 cement plants in Libya.





The construction of the cement factory started in January 1997 for the client, Messebo Building Materials Production Share Company. The plant is located in the northern part of Ethiopia, 7 km from Mekele city.

The project encompassed all civil and structural works, supply and installation of the structural steel, and the entire mechanical erection works. The mechanical equipment was provided by F.L.Smith of Denmark.

The annual capacity of the plant is 600,000 tons and it is capable of producing portland cement with or without additives. The project was completed in March 2000.

ENKA and its partner Siemens are to design and build the Tripoli WestSimple Cycle Power Plant in Libya.The Tripoli West plant is to add 680 MW to the grids operated by thestate-owned General Electricity Company of Libya.The Tripoli West project is located in the area of the existing TripoliWest Power Plant, 30 km west of Tripoli city center.Siemens is responsible for the procurement of the gas turbines andauxiliaries, while ENKA is to undertake the overall power plantengineering works, the procurement of all equipment other than thesaid parts of the main power block, and the completion of allconstruction, assembly and other works, as well as the commissioningand start-up of the plants.The Tripoli West project is based on a power island configuration forfour SGT5-PAC 2000E Siemens combustion turbine generator units.The turbines of the plants will be dual-fuel fired with light fuel oil andnatural gas. The power generated in the turbines will be stepped upto the grid through main transformers.
