enjoy, learn, grow
TRANSCRIPT
Dear Parents and Carers, It’s been another busy week here at Worple Primary. I hope that you enjoyed the PTA’s Summer Food Festival (I know I enjoyed the food) and have been out supporting our wonderful PTA. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA for their on-going efforts in supporting the school and all of the parents and community members who come out to support these events. All money raised goes towards improving the educational experience of the children here at Worple Primary. Y5 Trip to Teddington Lock
Year 5 visited Teddington Lock as part of their ‘Rivers’ topic for this term. While they were there, they had the whole class get on board a classroom that was in fact a boat! There were two groups and while one group did a geographical study of the area and the other group did some scientific testing of the water. Below deck, they did an investigation into the materials that are on the riverbed such as gravel, alkaline and clay. They discovered that gravel lets water seep through very easily but clay does not. They found out that even if the water were left on the clay for months it would still not get through. When they were off the boat the children learned about plastic pollution and discussing alternatives for plastic.

Blaze’s Pup-Date
Blaze was in Year 1 last week helping the children with their phonics. Miss McArdle reported that his behaviour was outstanding although his phonics knowledge is a little ‘ruff’. Tennis Festival 10 children from Year 4 took part in the Hounslow Tennis Festival at Dukes Meadows Tennis Centre. The festival, which is run by Sports Impact as part of our School Games provision, has been running for many years and includes all the primary schools in Hounslow. We were very pleased to be told how well our children represented Worple; their behaviour was exemplary and not only that they had great fun too!
Mind Body Theatre Workshop
Careers Day
On Thursday, Year 6 had visits from Russ Powell, Head of Marketing for a large digital media company,
Ade Knight, a paramedic from the Berkshire Ambulance Service, Poonam Ghai, a scientists specialising in
the respiratory system, Stella Trevaskis, a journalist and representative from the London Fire Service. All
the visitors spoke to Year 6 about what their careers entail how to get into their various professions and
then did a question and answer session. Worple would like to thank them for giving up their time to come
and inspire the children in Year 6.
