SAUDI COGEN,DESAL PROJECT
A consortium led byMarubeni Corp and includ-ing Japan’s JGC Corp,Itochu Corp and ACWAPower Projects of SaudiArabia, has successfully con-cluded negotiations withSaudi Arabian Oil Co andSumitomo Chemical Co Ltdof Japan to develop a fuel oil-fired cogeneration anddesalination plant for theRabigh Refinery andPetrochemical Complex inSaudi Arabia on a build,own, operate and transferbasis.
The concession is for an initial term of 25 years. SaudiAramco and SumitomoChemical have joined forces todevelop one of the world’slargest integrated refining andpetrochemical complexes at theRed Sea town of Rabigh on thewest coast of Saudi Arabia. Thefacility will produce 2.2 milliontons of olefins, along with largevolumes of gasoline and otherrefined products, annually.
The contract for the engi-neering, procurement and con-struction of the new cogenera-tion and desalination plant wentto Mitsubishi Heavy Industrieson a full turn-key basis.
The newly constructedplant is scheduled to start com-mercial operation in June2008.

METSO PULPBLEACHING
SYSTEMS FORJAPAN, SPAIN
Metso Paper is to supplyhigh-consistency ozonebleaching systems worth�30 million to Daio PaperCorp in Japan and SniaceGroup in Spain.
Metso Paper’s ozone tech-nology enables a considerablereduction in both the amountof effluent and fresh waterconsumption. As well as themain process machinery,Metso Paper will provide engi-neering and site services.
In Japan, Metso Paper willupgrade Daio Paper’s Mishimamill’s pulp bleaching process.The mill produces 1600 tons of elemental chlorine-freebleached pulp from hardwooddaily for its own integratedpaper machines. In addition tothe ozone bleaching reactorsand auxiliary equipment,Metso Paper will also deliverwash presses for pulp washingand pressing to a consistencyrequired for the bleaching process.
Metso Paper will also mod-ify Sniace’s Torrelavega mill’spulp bleaching system. Themill’s daily production willincrease from 180 tons to 240tons of dissolving sulfite pulp.The existing bleaching will bereplaced by a chlorine-freebleaching system. The newprocess will enable a major partof the effluent to be recoveredand used for lignin production.
Start-ups of the newbleaching lines are scheduledfor April 2006 in Japan and forFebruary 2007 in Spain.

Kadant Black Clawson Inchas received an order from
Hangzhou Yongli Paper CoLtd, to provide a complete120 BDMT/D MOW treat-ment system for the compa-ny’s Zhejiang mill in China.
Hangzhou Yongli expectsthe new system to reduce cer-tain costs associated with vir-gin pulp processing. The millproduces approximately 200000 tons of coated whiteboardper year.

SUBSEA PIPELINE PROJECT
Hyundai Heavy Industries(HHI) has won an US$86million project from TotalIndonesia to build and installa 55km subsea pipeline in theSisi & Nubi gas field locatedsoutheast of Borneo Islandby 2007.
The turnkey order coversthe entire process from engi-neering, procurement andinstallation to pre-commis-sioning of the subseapipeline. After completing theproject, the field’s producedgas will be transported to anon-land plant.

DELAYED COKINGPLANT IN SPAIN
BP Oil Refineria de CastellonSA has selected FosterWheeler USA Corp to supplya process design package fora delayed coking plant basedon Foster Wheeler’s SelectiveYield Delayed Coking Processfor its refinery in Castellon,Spain.
The planned facility has adesign capacity of 20 000 bar-rels per stream day. Thedelayed coker plant is sched-uled for completion in the sec-ond quarter of 2008 and is partof BP’s planned reconfiguration
of its Castellon refinery toreduce residual fuel oil production.
ENI, ONGC SIGN COOPERATIONAGREEMENT
Italy’s Eni and India’s Oil &Natural Gas Corp (ONGC)are to work together to findnew exploration and produc-tion opportunities.
Under an agreement signedby both companies, Eni andONGC will exchange informa-tion on a range of deepwaterexploration opportunities inIndia and in other countries,with a view to exchanging equi-ty interests in selected upstreamand midstream projects.
The agreement followsEni’s recent entry into Indiawith the award of two operatedexploration blocks.
CB&I WINS UAEGAS PROCESSING
PROJECTCB&I has been awarded aUS$130 million lump-sumturnkey contract to designand build liquefied petrol-eum gas (LPG) storage tanksand a pentane tank for a nat-ural gas processing expan-sion project in Ruwais, AbuDhabi, United ArabEmirates.
The contract is withSnamprogetti SpA, prime EPCcontractor for the owner, AbuDhabi Gas Industries Ltd(GASCO). CB&I will beresponsible for the engineer-ing, procurement, fabricationand construction of four 83 600 cubic metre nominalcapacity concrete full contain-ment LPG tanks, includingfoundations and piping tograde. Two tanks will storepropane and two will storebutane. CB&I will also supplya 76 000 cubic metre nominalcapacity atmospheric storagetank for Pentane Plus.Completion of the project isscheduled for mid-2008.
