My plotted paper

With no more than 5 sentences per question, make notes around the following questions, towards creating a plan and outline for a publishable paper.

1. What am I writing about in this paper?

2. Why am I writing this paper?

3. Who are my readers, and why would they be interested in this paper?

4. What main argument will my paper make, and why does this argument need to be made now?

5. What evidence do I need to support my argument, and where will I get it from?

6. What are the relevant counter-arguments I need to be aware of, and how should I speak back to them in my paper?

7. What headings will I include in my paper? (Don’t just go for the obvious - really think a but about how you want your argument to unfold for the reader)

8. On a separate sheet, or in a new Word file, spend 10 minutes per heading writing your ‘holding texts’.

Note in prose, in clear sentences, what you need to include in each section of the paper (reading, information, references, key points) and in what sort of ‘order’, so that your paper can begin to take shape.
