• The EnhancedOil Recovery Institute (EORI) resides in theSchoolofEnergyResourcesandcontributestoboththere-searchandoutreachcomponentsofthatSchool.
• The EORI is financially supported by theWyoming StateLegislature and is mandated to promote the recovery ofWyoming’sstrandedoil.
• FundingisprovidedtotheEnhancedOilRecoveryCommis-sion(EORC),appointedbytheGovernor,andistransferredtoUWthroughaMemorandumofUnderstanding.
• TheEORCoverseesthefinancialandprocedural issuesre-gardingtheEORI.
• ThetechnicalactivitiesoftheEORIareoverseenbyaTech-nicalAdvisoryBoard(TAB)thatisselectedbytheEORIDi-rector from scientists, engineers and economists in aca-demia, government and industry, and currently includesthreemembersoftheNationalAcademy.
• EORIbudgetsaredevelopedonabiennialbasisbytheDi-rectorandapprovedbytheEORC,theGovernor,theJointAppropriationsCommitteeandtheLegislature.
• The EORI directly employs scientists and engineers (mostoftenas researchscientists)whoseskill setsandactivitiescontributetotheEORImandate.
• TheEORIsupports regular faculty,postdoctoral research-ers, graduate students and research scientistswhose skillsets and activities support the EORI mandate. Currentlythis type of support is being provided to individuals andprograms in the departments of Economics and Finance,ChemicalandPetroleumEngineeringandMathematics.
• The EORI temporarily contracts with specialists or other-wisearranges for theirservicesas requiredbyongoingorplannedtechnicalprojects.
• Theoutreachcomponentof the Institute’smission is sup-portedby itsbasicandapplied researchactivitiesand in-cludescollaborative studiesarranged throughconfidenti-alityagreements,scopingstudiesusingtheEORIdatabase,andtheformationofoperatorconsortia (strategicallianc-es)ontopicsofmutualinterest.
• The dissemination of technical information is providedthrough professional meetings, workshops, seminars andpubliclecturesarrangedand/orsponsoredbytheEORI.
