ABSTRACT

Thesis, Faculty of TeacherTraining and Education, Jambi University in Academic Year 2019/2020.First supervisor: Nyimas Triyana Safitri, S.Pd., M.Edst and secondsupervisor: RD.M.Ali, S.Pd., M.Pd
The research entitled “English Pre-service Teachers Challenges in ClassroomManagement at SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi” was purposed to investigate what arethe challenges in classroom managament during their teaching practice and howthey cope those challenges. This research was conducted in Jambi University.This study used a descriptive qualitative design. The participants of this studywere the students of English Education Program who passsed introducing ofschooling environment (PLP) at seventh semester. The data were collectedthrough interview. The findings showed the participants faced the challenges inclassroom management included; seating arrangement, students did not obey theregulations, difficult create the activities, difficult to understand thecharacteristic of students, students behavior. Based on the challenges, itrecommended that the teacher should provide general personal approach,provide effective punishment differently, be friendly, and disregard students’misbehavior.
