TRANSCRIPT
A funny man , think that anything can be a
joke. Lives the life the way it takes it to. No
practical thinking. Just tries to do everything
the way he is asked. Has a dog. He loves
food and hates work Jerome K. Jerome is like
the Victorian Bill Bryson.
George was a bank clerk (who 'goes to sleep at a
bank from ten to four each day, except Saturdays,
when they wake him up and put him outside at
two ') and was living in a back room of the same
house. The landlady suggested that, to save
money, the two might share a room. They
'chummed ' together for some years - both shared
a love of the theatre -and a life-long friendship was
formed. George, who remained a bachelor, rose
to become manager of Barclays Bank in the Strand
and outlived.
Harris is a vain fellow who pretends to be extremely hard working but usually pushes off the burden on other people. He is outspoken and does not hesitate to tell his friends what he thinks about them even if it may not be pleasant. For example he outwardly tells George that his new blazer is utterly revolting and that he must not wear it around them (Harris and J). When Harris takes on a job he makes a huge fuss out of it like the narrator’s uncle Podger. It may not be anything majorly important but if Harris is going to do it.... The world would know about it. He also thinks very highly of himself and his voice though his friends do not want him to even attempt singing. He is extremely fascinated by tombs and graveyards much to J’s dislike. He is also quite short tempered and it is best to let him rant off his anger rather than try and talk to him about it. He wouldn’t mind a drink at any time of the day and enjoys the company of his friends.
Montmorency was a dog who was the a
member of the trip . Montmorency was very
clever , faithful . He was like to fight . He
does not like cats . He hate the cats . He
was very surprising dog . He was very adventurous dog . He was follow the orders
of his master .
ANSWER- The three friends had all the provisions
with them. George took the responsibility of
making an Irish stew. They had the ingredients
like potatoes, cabbage, peas, pork pie, cold
boiled bacon, potted salmon, eggs and a dead
water rat brought by Montmorency. It was a
great success, that Irish stew. There was
something piquant and fresh about it. It had a
new flavour with a taste like nothing else on
earth. It was nourishing also because it had
good ingredients in it. The gravy was a little too
rich but nutritious.
ANSWER- Jerome was a fan of locks. One, they
pleasantly break the monotony of the pull. Two,
they give one a chance to enjoy the
surroundings. Three, light falling on the river water
gives one a feeling that the river is laughing and
smiling. Four, one enjoys a pleasant imprisonment
and once again one pushes one’s boat out from
that brief prison on to the welcoming waters. This
way, one avoids monotony.
ANSWER- After his encounter with the police,
George came back home. It was still dark and
foggy. He had undergone all the rituals to get
ready for his work. Still there was enough time at
his disposal. He thought that it would be better to
undress and enjoy a sound nap again. Then he
thought that he would have to redress and
rewash. To have another bath in that cold
weather simply made him shudder. So to kill time
he decided to have a nap in the easy chair. He
thought it would save him from redressing,
rewashing and rebathing.
