Finarvedi is the holding company of the Arvedi group, of which the “core business” is the steel making concern with volumes of over 3.5 million tons of high quality products for the most demanding markets. The Arvedi Group, founded in 1964 by Giovanni Arvedi, has about 2600 employees and has a consolidated turnover of over 2 billion Euros.Eight manufacturing companies, operating in four specific areas, form the steel nucleus of the Arvedi Group.Acciaieria Arvedi SpA, steel mill in Cremona, hot rolled coils producer,
pickled and galvanized by the Arvedi patented ISP/ESP technologies that, covered by over 400 patents, is the only case in the world of continuous casting of thin slab and lamination in the “endless” line.Arvedi Tubi Acciaio S.p.A., tube works in Cremona, produces welded carbon steel tubes and the controlled companies Metalfer SpA (Roé Volciano - Brescia), Metalfer Automotive (Avigliana - Torino), Metalfer Poland (Bielsko Biala) and Arvedi Metalfer do Brasil Ltda ( San Paolo - Brazil), all specialized in producing and pre-processing carbon steel drawn tubes.
Ilta Inox S.p.A. (Robecco d’Oglio - Cremona), for the manufacturing of stainless steel pipes.Arinox S.p.A., (Sestri Levante - Genova), re-rolling of stainless steel precision strips. Thanks to important investments in new technologies and systems and research and development of high quality products the Arvedi companies are lead players on an international scale. In fact, big shares of the production of steel products for special applications are (on average over 40%, with peaks reaching 80%) meant for foreign markets.

Modern Technology, years of experience, constant search for quality, flexibility and customer service are the strengths of Arvedi Tubi Acciaio SpA leader of welded tube for special applications. Present with a production capacity of 500,000 tons a year, the company founded in 1973 by Giovanni Arvedi holds significant market share in the automotive, mechanics, thermal plant and construction sector. One hot stretch reducer and five ERW tubes production lines, equipped with the most advanced automation and quality control technologies, allow us to offer customers a wide range of products able to satisfy the most demanding and most stringent standards. The production range that meets the needs of three key macro areas of application: special, energy and civil engineering, focuses on diameters from 17.2 mmto 323.9 mm with thicknesses up to 16 mm.
ATA, Acciaieria Tubificio Arvedi was founded and the first plant was installed: the hot stretch reducing mill downstream of high frequency welding equipment.
The steel mill started and thanks to the production of special steels new products were developed.
Two new ERW lines (Ø 42-127 and Ø 26-48) and the first furnace started for the production of tubes for the heat exchanger, mechanical, building and conduit sectors.
Only three years later, another two ERW welding lines were installed (Ø to-168 and Ø 20-60), for the production of tubes for mechanics and cylinders, and the first furnace for heat treatment.
The new steel mill is built (using the innovative technology called ISP-Inline Strip Production) ATA stops producing steel and concentrates only on tube productions. ATA becomes Arvedi Tubi Acciaio.

A three-year long plan of investments begins, two lines are replaced and optimized, monitoring and processing post production systems are renewed as well.
ATA takes over Metalfer, the most important tube drawer in Italy and among the most important in Europe.
A technologically advanced and automatic new line is installed to produce tubes of a large diameter (up to 12”) and hollow (squares and rectangles).
Arvedi Metalfer Brasil was born: manufacturer of welded tubes and cold drawn tubes, in the state of San Paolo.
A new furnace is installed, with a larger thermal capacity and a better energy efficiency.

40 years of welded tubes for special application.
ATA, Acciaieria Tubificio Arvedi, was founded in 1973 by Giovanni Arvedi, a company created to produce steel to be made into high quality tubes for special uses. The first production plant goes back to that year, when a stretch reducing mill was installed with high frequency welding equipment. Thanks to ATA for launching the tube Arvedi LC® (hot rolled) for hydro-thermal-sanitary uses and the GSM tube, which are much more precise and homogeneous than the seamless tube, quickly conquers the share of the market for the mechanical sector and rough rolls for successive cold drawing, a novelty for Italy.
The steel mill that was set up in 1974 on the same premises, consented the tube mill to develop successful new products such as high resistant tubes for cars and API tubes for the fuel oil sector.
The years at the end of the 70’s and all of the 80’s were for ATA still a further potential productive period thanks to the installation of four ERW welding lines for the mechanic, cylinder, heat, building and conduits for liquids sector, as well as the installation of the first heat treatment (normalizing) and annealing furnace.
In 1992, when the new ISP technology steel mill was built, ATA stopped producing steel and concentrated fully on the production of tubes, by installing two new lines, a second heat treatment furnace, the most advance testing and monitoring equipment and developing a work preparation and cutting centre for tubes designed for the car industry. The firm’s strategy for the period 2006-2009 planned and launched an important investment programme:
In 2008 ATA took over Metalfer, as well as the most •
important producer of cold drawn carbon steel tubes in Italy also among the main European producers of the same products.
In 2009 a new line for the production of large tubes •
(diameter up to 12”) and hollows (squares and rectangles), complete with automatic warehouse was purchased and installed.
In 2011 building works began on Arvedi Metalfer do •
Brasil, for the production of welded and cold drawn carbon steel tubes.
