AT SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY, WE DON’T JUST BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS.  WE EQUIP YOU WITH THE BEST  EDUCATION WHICH GIVES YOU THE CONFIDENCE TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS A REALITY.

We know you are selecting a college for more than just its location or school colors. You want to go somewhere to prepare you for the future. Your future.

At Southern Nazarene University, we want that for you too. That is why we work hard to make sure our degrees are supported top curricula.

Our highly-qualified faculty not only know the ins and outs of the profession you seek, but they truly wish to see you succeed as an individual. We give you the opportunity to leave college prepared for the next step in your English career. That’s why we can encourage you to not just dream, but to dream with confidence.

WITH CUSTOMIZED PROGRAMS At SNU, your education is our number one priority. That’s why we tailor your degree to you, as an individual. When you meet with SNU advisors, they won’t just tell you what classes to take, they’ll help you find specialized classes that concentrate on your career and academic goals. We help you develop to meet your goals beginning with your first entry-level class designed to answer the question, “What do you do with an English degree?”

With an English degree, you can choose a compatible minor (such as business, sociology, psychology or missions). As you follow your tailored degree plan, you may find yourself

taking a class from a number of di erent disciplines. Graphic Design. Computer Science. Theology. Mass Communication. Each of these are o ered in a Learning Community setting with a cross-discipline teaching team to help round out your degree program.

WITH INNOVATIVE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIESAt SNU, we recognize that learning also takes place outside the classroom. That’s why we work to provide hands-on learning experiences beginning your very first semester. Perhaps you will work on sta with the student online newspaper and become a member of the Oklahoma Collegiate Media Association. Maybe you have an interest in joining our national award winning yearbook sta ?

Our unique learning opportunities happen o -campus too. Join a literary trip and gain class credit while travelling the world. British Isles. France. Boston. London. Stay state-side and join a trip highlighting specific literary contributors such as Mark Twain in Hannibal, Missouri or Chopin in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Build your resume and your expertise through an internship or volunteer opportunity. Work with the Poetry Society of Oklahoma Youth Awards. WITH HIGHLY-QUALIFIED FACULTYAt SNU our English faculty are more than just educators. They have practical experience as writers and editors. As an English student you will gain valuable lessons as you study under professors with specialized expertise. A writing consultant for Oklahoma Writing Project. The co-owner of 46th Star Press, Publishing Company. A grant writer responsible for grants totaling more than 6 million dollars for SNU. A former Oxford professor. Freelance copyeditor. Academic writer for SUNY Press. Even more staggering than these impressive roles and accomplishments, our professors are attuned to YOU. The English department faculty includes a winner of the SNU Excellence in Teaching Award and a winner of the SNU Excellence in Faculty Performance Award. Both awards recognize a concern for your education over the professors’ own personal achievements.

WITH PREPARATION FOR GREAT JOBS AFTER GRADUATIONWhile at SNU, you will gain the knowledge and experience needed to seek the career path of your dreams. From graduate school to entering the job force, you will be prepared. Don’t take our word for it; meet SNU alumni,

Kyra Kuik, a content coordinator for Distilled, a marketing agency in Seattle, WA.

“All throughout college, I heard English majors were unemployable, but that’s simply not true. My job requires a degree in either English or Journalism, so I use the skills I gained as an English major every day,” Kuik said. “While I certainly had to build on the skills I gained in college, majoring in English made me an excellent writer, editor, and critical thinker…all of which I need to do my job.”

“Academically, SNU provided me the same opportunities as other colleges might, but what sets SNU apart is how much the faculty cares about the students,” she said. “My experience at SNU was exceptional because my professors took the time to mentor me and invest in me.” Professors, Kuik added, took the time to get to know her strengths and interests and convinced her that an English major was a great fit.

If a dream is a blueprint of a goal not yet achieved, at SNU we partner with you to focus your e orts to attain whatever it is you hope to accomplish. We say DREAM WITH CONFIDENCE.
