Dear colleagues, ladies and gentlemen,
The Wilhelm Sander Unit for Bone and Soft Tissue Sar-comas at university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar, cordially invites you to our interdisciplinary meeting on „Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas: State of the Art and Perspectives 2015“. The first day of this two-day-meeting focusses on dia-gnostics, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The second day covers the surgical treatment. In particular, we add-ress orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, pediatricians, internal oncologists and radiation therapists - reflecting the interdisciplinary approach to this difficult group of diseases.Sarcomas are malignant tumors of the musculoskeletal system and rather rare, counting for about 2000 new cases each year in Germany. Due to this fact and their biological and clinical heterogeneity, diagnosis and treatment remain a challenge for all involved disciplines. We are very pleased that again we can offer a compre-hensive programme with nationally and internationally distinguished speakers and chairpersons and we ex-pect a highly interesting interdisciplinary meeting. Topics include selected issues of histopathological clas-sification, new aspects of staging, but also new opportu-nities of documentation and quality control as an aspect of clinical research. New ways in drug therapy and ra-diation therapy are presented and discussed as well as the significance of patient follow-up.The second day of the meeting focusses on surgical therapy. Special reconstruction techniques as well as their characteristics and results are presented and dis-cussed in depth. The management of complications and possible solutions to them are another focus. We would be very pleased to see you at this meeting and we are looking forward to welcoming you in Munich.
