Facilities Plant Layout
A plant layout study is an engineering study used to analyze different physical configurations for a manufacturing plant.
It is also known as Facilities Planning and Layout
In manufacturing engineering,
process layout is a design for the floor plan
of a plant which aims to improve efficiency by
arranging equipment according to its function
Facilities Plant Layout
The production line should ideally be designed to eliminate waste in material flows, inventory handling and management
In process layout, the work stations and machinery are not arranged according to a particular production sequence
Instead, there is an assembly of similar operations or similar machinery in each department (for example, a drill department, a paint department, etc.)
Building services engineering
responsible for the design, installation, operation and monitoring of the mechanical, electrical and public health systems required for the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly operation of modern buildings
Facilities Plant Layout
Building services engineering comprises mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and plumbing or public health (MEP) engineering, all of which are further sub-divided into the following:
•Communication lines, telephones and IT networks (ICT)•Energy supply - gas, electricity and renewable sources•Escalators and lifts•Fire detection and protection•Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)•Lightning protection•Low voltage (LV) systems, distribution boards and switchgear•Natural lighting and artificial lighting, and building facades•Security and alarm systems•Ventilation and refrigeration•Water, drainage and plumbing
Facilities Plant Layout
A site plan is an architectural plan, and a detailed engineering drawing of a given lot
A site plan usually shows a building footprint, travel ways, parking, drainage facilities, sanitary sewer lines, water lines, trails, lighting, and landscaping
The shop floor is the floor of a factory (machine shop) where people work on machines
It may also refer to the space in a retail establishment where goods are sold to consumers
Facilities Plant Layout
Plans are often for technical purposes such as architecture, engineering, or planning
Their purpose in these disciplines is to accurately and unambiguously capture all the geometric features of a site, building, product or component
Plans can also be for presentation or orientation purposes, and as such are often less detailed versions of the former
The end goal of plans is either to portray an existing place or object
