General Guidelines
• The GSC is designed to clamp anywhere on the body of the Gas Spring, and it does not require a groove or feature on the Gas Spring body to clamp onto. The diameter of the Gas Spring is the only thing that you need to consider.
Clamping Anywhere on the Z-Axis
• We do NOT recommend using the GSC on “uncontained” Gas Springapplications.Forexample,GasSpringsusedto“drive”aLifterBarorRackfromabove.
• Screws with a nylon patch should be used (provided).• Back-upisrequiredtosupportthefullloadoftheGasSpring.• Werecommendthemountingsurfacebeaflatmachined
surface, perpendicular to the bored hole.

Choose your Clamp TypeSingle Screw Dual Screw
• Machining=1TappedHole• Smaller Overall Length• Most Economical• Less Total Parts
• Machining=2TappedHoles• EnsuresClampstaysflatduetodual
screwlocations-helpfulin“dirty”conditions
• Clamp stays Oriented during assembly and disassembly
• Gas Spring stays in the center of the hole since clamp is oriented by 2locations
• GasSpringcanbepositionedtightup against another detail due to the “Open” design

Choose your Fastener TypeFlat Head Cap Screw Standard Cap Screw
• HexSizeprovidesidealtorque• LowProfile• Most economical• 2-3 Parts
• Standard Cap Screw may require clearance basedonapplication
• Tapered Ring is required• 3-4 Parts
Negative perception of Flat Head Screws in Dies?HereiswhatwefoundandwhyitDOESNOTapplyinthisapplication
There is a large amount of contact surface betweenthetaperontheFlatHeadScrewandtheblockitissecuring.Thisgenerallypresents a problem only when the screw is beingremovedbecausethesurfacefrictioncombinedwiththe“smaller”hexsizecanmakeitdifficulttoloosen.
Traditional ApplicationTheFlatHeadScrewonlymakes
POINT contact with the Gas Spring Clamp, so there is not a
large surface area that can cause theFlatHeadScrewto“seize
up” when removing.
