Automotive SPICE assessments are mostly seen as a big shock, little help is
given afterwards.
Primary focus is on evaluation of performance and managing attributes.
Improvement suggestions are given, but implementation is rarely supported by
line organization. Thus, project teams feel left alone and get de-motivated.

The PCCs cover selected topics of ASPICE and evaluate capability in projects in a step by step approach
So-called Handbooks, available for each ASPICE-process, help to translate ASPICE expectations into the project environment.
Process Capability Checks are carried out via interviews by intacsTM certified internal assessors, who are the project quality managers (project core team member) at the Business Unit. Based on detailed insight, feeling the pain and the common interest to perform better, coaching and implementation of improvement actions becomes more efficient.
Results, gaps and necessary improvement actions are documented in detail. (PCC checklist/rating-sheet).
Weakness found on Process House descriptions shall be forwarded to the responsible Process-Managers. Definition & implementation of related improvement measures needs not to be monitored &reported within the project context but on organizational-level.
Long term goal is a self managed project team which uses the Business-Unit-Process House (mapped to Automotive SPICE Process Assessment Model) to carry out all project activities.

Process Capability Checks (PCC)ASPICE Handbook - Example MAN.3 (1/4)
How is it “translated”?
1) The original ASPICE-question is visible in column 1 and 2
2) The next columns gives detailed information about:
1) What can be proven by these outputs?
2) Explanation for strategy and workflow. (= “How the evidences/outputs are fitting in a common concept?”)
3) Evidences (= “What documents must be available to proof the systematic usage?”)
4) What the PM has to consider to fulfill sufficient quality of outputs (= This column contains the relevant
information from Processes and experience from former ASPICE assessments.)
5) Specifc requests to fulfill Level 2 (= further experiences from former ASPICE-assessments, focus on efficient
performance in the projects.)
3) Sometimes the Strategy and Workflow is visualized on separate sheets, to enable better understanding of the
workflow.

Automotive SPICE Target Level Achievement
The PCC Method offers a better
balance between project team needs
(delivery driven) and line
management / process management
expectations (meeting objectives).
PCCs brings ASPICE to the whole organization !
The PCCs are mainly used for
coaching, self-assessment and
improvement.
The PCCs offer more flexibility on assessing different type of projects. Scope and
time frame can be easily adjusted to the specific project use case
Significant improvements of ASPICE-capability-levels in different projects
