    Scenario:

In this guide we will configure multiple EnGenius EOC Series Access Points in a

    Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

    Step 1:

Connect to the first Access Point –  this will be the Main AP connected to your

Modem. You may need to assign a static IP Address on your computer to access the

AP –  if you are unsure how to do this please refer to our “IP Address Basics” Guide.

Ensure the device is in Access Point Mode:

    Step 2:

Assign the Access Point a unique IP Address on your network and enter the Default

Gateway and Primary DNS (usually the IP Address of your modem, then click Apply):

On the Wireless Network tab, edit the first profile “EnGenius1” and enter an SSID

(wireless network name), select a security type and enter you wireless password.

    Click Save.

Change the channel to a suitable channel that has the least interference in your

area (InSSIDer  is a great application for this).

    Apply changes:

    Step 4:

On the WDS Link Settings page Enable the first ID MAC Address and Enter the

Wireless MAC Address of the Remote AP (The wireless MAC Address is “MAC2” on

the back of the EnGenius AP) then Apply changes:

    Step 8:

Edit the first profile “EnGenius1” and ensure the SSID (wireless network name),

security type and wireless password are exactly the same as entered on the Main

Access Point earlier. Select the same channel, Save and Apply all changes.

    Step 9:

    Testing the Configuration:

Plug the Main AP into the ADSL / Internet Router.

Plug the Remote AP into the power at the remote site. After the devices power up

(30-60sec) scan for wireless networks at the remote site and connect to the wirelessnetwork you have just created with your laptop.

Set up a continuous ping from a command prompt to the IP Addresses of both

EnGenius AP's and your Gateway/Internet router. (Start > Run, type “cmd” and click

    ok).

You should have a steady ping to all sights as shown below. If this is not the case you

may need to re-align Access Points, Ensure you have Line of Sight between sights,

and if problems persist change the channel as their maybe interference in the area.
